Tiger Woods' big comeback: How did he do at the Masters?

Filed under: News and tagged:

In the end, Tiger Woods didn’t win the 2010 Masters Tournament, instead tying for fourth place. (Phil Mickelson came in first, winning his third green jacket.) So what’s next for Woods after his big return to golf? In a short interview with golf analyst Peter Kostis after he finished, Woods said that he’d be taking some time off to “evaluate things” before making his next career decision.

Why is this on an entertainment website?

    • talkin’

      Because golf is on tv

  • Slimjimmy

Same reason Jesse James is reported here: cheating on your wife/girlfriend is ENTERTAINMENT. I’m sure that if any other big name sports star was involved in this kind of scandal, they would be here also.

It is really sad when CBS has to open their telecast today apologizing for Tiger’s bad language that got broadcast yesterday. He has no morals and never will.

    • Sarah

That is ridiculous. Swearing has nothing to do with a person’s morals. Who give a flying **** if he swears? :)

      • shermanq

It figures a slut of low morals would have no clue that the inability to control the use of profanity is a moral issue.

      • denniswharwich

        shermanq: irony alert

      • DT

Yes, because saying a cuss word is exactly as bad as bumping uglies with numerous women who aren’t one’s wife or, for that matter, murder. I see your point, shermanq.

      • renee

calling another poster a slut says a lot more about moral character than swearing.

the masters is unique. i watch it cause it’s the masters. thought tiger was awesome. never have liked mickelson, would have preferred kim, chang, couples, or westwood.

ABSOLUTELY TIRED OF THE TIGER HATIN’ ON EVERYTHING TIGER DOES NOW. Dan Patrick, Skip Bayless, Mike Lupica, Filip Bondy – get over yourselves. There are lots of athletes who do amazing things on the court and philanthropic like Tiger, but you chose him to create and prop. Not us. Now u want to tear him down when other athletes have done and are doing the same thing. He cheated. It was wrong. Story over. Play golf.

    • talkin’

      it’s not sad at all

    • Diane

YOu know we really need to understand that people are human. I swear when something goes wrong so I’m not going to cast the first stone on this one.

  • Hutchy

This always is a tough spot for me, I really dont know who to root for. Tiger clearly is, and always has been, a D-bag and would be whether he cheated or not. On the other hand, the EW housewife morality police who tend to project every celeb cheater onto their own insecurities always tend to be pretty tedious. Quite a dilemma…..

    • denniswharwich

      you’re clearly a D-bag

      • Hutchy

        boooo hoooo

    • jeannieb

Wow, Hutchy. Kind of a misogynist, are you? I really feel sorry for you! BTW, there are plenty of men out there who are disgusted with TW’s behavior as well.

    • dustin

Sure he cheated on his wife, but he didnt broadcast it to the world. He actually tried to do the opposite, but everyone had to know everything so the media kept a-digging because it was a story. So dont go all TIGRER IS A D*USCHEBAG on here because of what he did off the course. And that interview and his behavior, is the same charm and charisma we praised before December 2009.

  • Kyle

if EW is switching to a Sports Site Count Me In!!!

Tiger made some brilliant shots, missed some gimmes, and didn’t get into a rhythm for the past two days. Still, he played well. Very few golfers are in contention in almost every tournament that they are in. I was rooting for Fred Couples, though.

  • will

he beat himself again. way too many bogies. two eagles in the same round and he only finished -2 for the day.

    • DT

If he beat himself, he wouldn’t be in his current dilemma. Hey-O!

  • TedKennedyisFinallySober

If he won…he would have been “back on top”…but since he came in fourth, he has some more analyzing. What I was thinking was…if he did win…who would he have there to celbrate with….his Mom, the one who has to love him no matter what. Actually, the Nike President would have been there to kiss his behind, because we knew Elin wasn’t there.

  • jones

Tiger tried to paint himself as a different person, but I found his post tournament comments to show his true colors. He was testy and crabby about not winning when he should be grateful for the response he got and the second chance most fans seem to be giving him. I was so glad to see Phil win and to share the moment with his wife. Phil is the anti-Tiger and that is a compliment.

    • ugh…

he was testy and crabby for not playing very well at all today. How would you feel to have an awesome first two days of competition and then totally blow up the last two days? And he should be grateful for the response he got from the spectators and fans? How about that is because the Masters practically has the best “crowd control” of all the PGA competitions…and even then, they were still rude to everyone. I guess they forgot that their screams and yells carried over to the other holes on the course, distracting all the golfers.

    • Michael

At the end of the day, I don’t really care what Tiger paints himself to be because we all know who he is. He’s a self-entitled schmuck with a god-complex. People are making such a big deal about the adultery, but he was a standoffish prick long before he started cheating on his wife. He’s a brilliant golfer but not a very good sportsman.

    • TC

tiger has never been a charming figure. has never been particulary personable, even in pre-scandal interviews. he’s succeeded so extraordinarily because his talent is unsurpassed. he’s still the top athlete of his generation. this isn’t the first time in a tournament that he has come across as sour. he always acts that way, and is always hard on himself when he doesn’t do particularly well (at least according to his standards/level). there was simply more focus on him this time. it’s nothing new.

  • susan

Very happy for Phil. It had to take alot of mental concentration since he’s been so devastated by both his mother and wife battling breast cancer.

    • jezoebel

I agree. Mickelson hugging his wife was very touching. He deserved the win.

      • OMG

I agree that Mickelson deserved to win…but not because of his family troubles. He should deserve to win by his vastly superior playing the past 4 days.

      • Jody

BS low – raitnoailty high! Really good answer!

  • Sparky313

Well stated Jones. Wood’s swearing on Saturday and wise guy interview on Sunday really turned me off. I hope the guy never wins another golf tournament.

  • Michael

I’m more annoyed with the sportcasters. They did everything but complement Tiger on the glorious and odorless crap that he took after breakfast. They may as well have blown him on the 8th fairway. After hitting a ball into the rough late into the day, I thought that one of those schmucks was going to cry.

  • Cami

Tiger needs to sincere-up. He was sorry for his conduct only after he got caught, like most cheaters. Now ready to play in Master’s tournaments and after losing says people are making too big a deal of his personal issues. Yet, wants to evaluate things himself now before continuing on. Sounds like a confused buffoon. Get it straight, man-up, dude, or get off the course.

  • Jill

I had hoped Tiger would play well and I thought he did fine. But I was really cheering for Phil; he’s always been my favorite and I’m glad he won it again.

  • Diane

Oh for God’s sake. Entertainers who have DUIs (Keifer, Paris, Diana Ross, Michelle Rodriguez) beaten their wives (Russel Crow, Richard Hatch, Eminem, Gary Coleman, Jonathan Togo among others) accused of rape (Roman, Michael Irvin, Ben Rothelsberger) and killed themselves (Corey Haim) or others (Howard Hughes, Laura Bush, John Huston, Ted Kennedy, Keith Moon) and we don’t judge them nearly as harshly as we’re judging Tiger.
