Noah Baumbach and Ben Stiller in talks for 'Mr Popper's Penguins'

Filed under: News and tagged:

Variety reports that Greenberg‘s Noah Baumbach and Ben Stiller may team up once again for 20th Century Fox’s Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The film, based on the 1938 children’s book of the same name, follows a house painter who receives a penguin from an Arctic pen pal. If Baumbach does sign on, it would be his first time directing a kid’s film. (Baumbach co-wrote Fantastic Mr. Fox.)

I read this book more times than I could count. It could be such a charming movie, I really hope they don’t go crazy with CGI and make it look like The Cat in the Hat or anything.

I’m so excited. I read this book as a kid. It’s what got me to enjoy reading. It’s been over 20 years since i’ve read it. I’ll have to read it again. Maybe share it with my nephew. This is great news.

Don’t screw it up! But I trust Noah Baumbach to at least make a good effort.

Um… Fantastic Mr. Fox was Baumbach’s first kid’s film. He co-wrote it with Wes Anderson… Probably why this project is gonna be awesome.
