Conan O’Brien has passed on the opportunity to host this year’s Tony Awards airing June 13 on CBS, according to his reps. Internet reports today alleged that O’Brien’s decision was due to his agreement with NBC after he left The Tonight Show. But neither NBC, CBS, or O’Brien’s reps would confirm or comment in regards to that.

Kevin Spacey's biopic acquired by Metropolitan Inc.
Variety reports that Casino Jack, a political biopic starring Kevin Spacey, has been picked up by Metropolitan Inc. for domestic distribution. The film, which is based on power broker Jack Abramoff — who was convicted of defrauding casinos run by Native Americans — is looking to a fall release. Kelly Preston, Jon Lovitz and Barry Pepper co-star.
'Freakonomics' to close Tribeca
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Alex Gibney and Morgan Spurlock’s Freakonomics has been selected to close out the Tribeca Film Festival. The documentary is based on the best-selling book by Steven Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, which ties together economics and topics like crime and parenting.
Producer files countersuit against Farrah Fawcett estate
Producer Craig Nevius (Chasing Farrah) has filed a suit against Farrah Fawcett’s estate, claiming that Fawcett’s money is being withheld from certain family members and that a lawsuit filed against him by the estate in January, in which he was accused of embezzling funds from the actress, is a misuse of Fawcett’s money. Attorney Howard Weitzman, who represents the estate, as well as Fawcett’s former boyfriend Ryan O’Neal and friend Alana Stewart, said, “I’ve read Mr. Nevius’ response to our complaint which I think contains spurious and outrageous allegations. I’m confident the truth will all come out during the course of the litigation.”
Tom Hanks twitters casting for 'Larry Crowne'
Tom Hanks used twitter as an outlet to announce additional casting on his new film Larry Crowne, which he will also direct and star opposite his Charlie Wilson’s War co-star Julia Roberts. Hanks posted a picture of various headshots, including Taraji P. Henson, Bryan Cranston, and Hanks’ former Bosom Buddies co-star Peter Scolari. Hanks also co-wrote Crowne with actress Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Gameshow pioneer Ira Skutch dies
According to Variety, gameshow pioneer Ira Skutch passed away March 16 in Los Angeles of lymphoma. Skutch was 88 when he died. The TV historian began his career as a page at NBC, and subsequently served as a stage manager for shows like Kraft Television Theater and You Are an Artist. Later in his career, Skutch helped create popular game shows like Match Game and Password.
Actress June Havoc dies
Gypsy Rose Lee’s sister June Havoc has passed away, according to The Wrap via the Village Voice. The actress, whose childhood was re-imagined on the Broadway stage in Gypsy, died Sunday at the age of 96. Havoc first gained popularity as a Vaudeville star, billed as “Baby June.” She also starred in several silent films. The actress also wrote two autobiographies, Early Havoc and More Havoc.
Teri Hatcher to offer women advice on GetHatched.com
Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher has teamed with Disney Family.com on the new web site GetHatched.com, ”a chick’s guide to life.” It will offer women “funny and real answers to life’s big questions and little dilemmas,” the site now teases. A hard launch is expected this spring.
'Real' housewife Bethenny Frankel gets married
Bethenny Frankel of The Real Housewives of New York City married boyfriend Jason Hoppy on March 28 in NYC, E! News reports. The couple had been dating for one year. People has more on their relationship.
According to People, fellow Real Housewives Alex McCord and Ramona Singer attended the ceremony at the Four Seasons, as did Today‘s Hoda Kotb. The menu included “lobster ravioli, sirloin steak and fish, and a red velvet wedding cake.” This morning, Frankel called the wedding the “best night of my life” on Twitter.
