The deals for the sequel to Warner Bros.’ surprise runaway hit The Hangover are finally in place, Mike Fleming at Deadline.com reports. The principle actors, Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms, will receive approximately $5 million each, as well as a percentage of the gross, while director/producer Todd Phillips will take in a whopping $10 million. All tallied, that’s already only $9 million shy of the original’s entire budget. This comes after lengthy and heated negotiations, since none of the stars made more than $300,000 for the first film — according to Fleming — and no sequel options were signed. Filming may begin as early as October.

It’s going to suck.
I really hope they don’t screw it up. Sequels very rarely live up to the original. However, I have faith in Todd Phillips. But $5 mil is a HUGE jump from $300,000! Wow! But Warner Bros can definitely afford it.
With the huge talent fees and the usual sequel fatigue, this project is not going to be as profitable as the first one.
The first one was a great movie but a sequel I fear is a bad choice, its like making a sequel to wedding crashers or superbad, It wont work
Hmm. They obviously can’t have them awake from another blackout and try to figure out what happened, but they COULD make a “buddy” comedy with these characters. I’ll remain skeptical but mildly optimistic.
This sequel will not work but damn are they getting a boatload of money to do this.
principAAAAAAAAAl
where’s Justin Bartha? Sure he didn’t have a whole lot of screen time in the first being missing and all, but he is definitely part of the wolf-pack.
Yeah, is he going to go missing again or what?
@Will true I was wondering the same thing!!! but I hope that its good.
cool i hope that is funnier than the first one and instead of vegas they go to ibiza, spain or every part of europe you know humping the monalisa or vomiting on eifel tower you know what we tourist do when we go there fun stuff.
Wow, a sequel. I’m surprised they didn’t just remake it. Or reboot, or whatever you want to call it.
Ugh, most overrated movie of 2009. Doesn’t a movie have to have a few funny jokes in it to be called a comedy? I laughed more watching Sophie’s Choice. The love for this flick boggles my mind.
Then I guess your on an island by yourself.
Wrong. Many people I’ve talked to and read on these message boards feel the same way. But to each their own.
Ramo…. I’m sorry, were you in a coma when you watched this film ??
My vote is with Justin…
I agree with Justin too. I haven’t met a person yet who didn’t love this movie. Even my mother loved it.
Weren’t they already planning a sequel before the movie even came out? Hope it’s good, but it may be a matter of trying to get lightening to strike a second time.
it’s princiPAL, not princiPLE- come on now!
actually, it IS principle. Which means primary. Principal is the head of a school. Brought to you by an English teacher.
Lets have the Hangover guys meet up with teh Hot Tub Time Machine boys. Now that is a MOvie
Man, John Cusak will NOT stop promoting his movie.
