Maria Conchita’s family came from Cuba. One assumes that they left Cuba because they had been beneficiaries of the plantation culture rule that dominated that island before the revolution. Maria Conchita and her family have been directly involved in a very undemocratic plot to overthrow the government in Venezuela by force, a plot in which her brother orchestrated the infiltration of armed Colombian mercenaries into the country to wreak havoc. I’m sorry, Maria, your cover has been blown.
You have no basis to criticize Mr. Penn. It is highly likely that he understands Venezuela much better than you ever have.
The truth is that all this people who post a comment in here are missing the point, Sean Penn have his opinion but it’s CRIMINAL to use the power of the media to express your opinion when you’re a complet IGNORANT of the issue,so HE needs to keep his opinion for HIMSELF,and before Penn and the bunch of poor ignorants on this page who post silly comment’s,they should read and to get information of what chavez is doing with Venezuela and to know all the changes that he wants to do to the Venezuelan Constitution, it’s not just the fact that he is a DICTATOR but he’s also a CRIMINAL, and bottom line WHOEVER support chavez and his CRIMINAL ACTS AND BELIEVES…..”PLEASE”….MOVE TO VENEZUELA. and please don’t talk about Al Gore of another politician because the issue is that people like Penn are supporting CRIMINALS and using the media to DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!DO NOT MISS THE POINT!!!!

Mr. Penn said, and I paraphrase only slightly here, anyone who calls Chavez a dictator is a liar and should thrown in jail.
You can believe in the First Amendment or not. No one, not even Mr. Penn, can claim they are for free speech and then spout such antithetical tripe.
Hugo Chavez has been a bright light in Venezuela since he was elected. I agree fully with Sean Penn.
Education, health and food have improved greatly for the majority of people in Venezuela.
Wealth is being spread out to include all the people.
This message needs to be spread to the majority in the USA where wealth, education, and health have been slimmed down.

fact is we live in a great nation. Nobody said it is perfect but I dont see any massive exodus leaving the great USA. If you are so unhappy (my assumption) why dont you high tail it back to Haiti. You would most defenitely be happier there. As for Penn he is nothing more than a spoiled Hollywood looser who has a hot head and knows nothing about life outside of Beverly Hills and Malibu. I find it so amazing how the likes of Penn, Speilberg, and Danny Glover love to defend or sympatize with Castro and/or Chavez while living the life of luxury in Tinseltown. But at the end of the day we are all lucky enough to live in a country wher this is possible. Never heard Spielberg speak out about the thousands of Jews that booted out of Cuba in the early 60′s, or Golver talk about Dr. Orlando Elias Biscet an Afro- Cuban Physicianwho is imprisoned because he spoke out in public about the misery which is Cuba. I can go on and on but what the point, most people just dont care.

I find it disappointing that people on these blogs just continue to attack one another without considering the opposing argument. It’s one thing to have a healthy debate, yet quite another to continually attack…you are only polarizing this country even more than it already is today.
I have a large group of VZ friends and co-workers who are frightened by the state of affairs in VZ. Their families are displaced, those that stood up against Chavez cannot find jobs, and they cannot even travel back to thier country without feeling completely unsafe. We all need to pull our heads out of the sand and try to move in a direction to help people because “it’s the right thing to do.” Let’s put the energy to good use and stop trying to outsmart one another through rhetoric.
