Disney’s plans to resurrect Sleeping Beauty‘s wicked villainess for her own feature film is gaining steam. According to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Heat Vision blog, Alice in Wonderland‘s screenwriter Linda Woolverton will write Maleficent and director Tim Burton is considering directing. The live-action movie would tell the story of Sleeping Beauty from the evil queen’s point of view.

I always loved Maleficent since this will be an original story as compared to something that’s been done many times over I’d love to see Burton directing it. (Just as long as Helena Bonham Carter ISN’T cast as Maleficent, even though I’m sure she’ll be in the movie somewhere)
Hmmmm…A little “Wicked”, anyone?
First thing I thought of!
noooo, please stop touching good things with your reverse midas touch tim burton! this would be so cool if a real writer/director team made it, like jonathan and christopher nolan
after watching Alice, shouldn’t they get a better writer. Heck, i even say get a different director, that movie sucked.
This reminds me of a Neil Gaiman short story, “Snow, Glass, Apples”, of Snow White from the Queen’s POV… except that Snow White was a vampire. Hope this movie will be good…
This could work but would depend entirely on WHO IS CAST AS MALEFICENT.
