Zach Braff Facebook status update: "Scrubs' no more'

As many of Zach Braff’s fans have already seen, the actor posted a status update last night on his Facebook page that reads: “Many of you have asked, so here it is: it appears that “New Scrubs”, “Scrubs 2.0″, “Scrubs with new kids”, “Scrubbier”, “Scrubs without JD” is no more. It was worth a try, but alas… it didn’t work.”

A source at ABC tells EW that no official decision has been made. Check back with for further updates.

the show should have ended last year – it had a great ending and the med school story is just weak

    • Karina

agreed….it would have wrapped up so nicely

      • Billiam

        It DID wrap up nicely.
And then we got a short-lived spin-off featuring Cox, Turk, and some pretty likable newer characters. From that perspective, I think the new version was pretty good.

Best series ending I have ever seen. Although Scrubs 2.0 turned out better than I expected.

    • Karl

It did end nicely, and then they tried to “AfterMASH” it.

Many fond memories of the original “Scrubs”….

  • Stefan

i liked the new group – the old characters didnt fit in though – JD was horrible, and well – ABC didnt give the show a chance, why did they renew it just to burn it off in the holiday-break is beyond me

I actually really like the new season, but they shouldn’t have called it Scrubs. It was a spinoff, simple as that, and I think it would’ve been better if they’d just admitted that and renamed it.

    • Branr

      Yep, something like AfterMASH

    • Courtney

They did rename it. The title card actually says Scrubs {Med School]

  • Justinian

Does this mean Better off Ted has a shot at renewal?

    • llevinso

Yeah, that’s all I really care about. Any news on Better Off Ted?

    • Brooke

Given that they haven’t aired the final two eps of this season yet, I doubt it. Sadly. :(

    • Jack

I hope so. If they’d put it in the Wednesday night block, I’m sure it would do at least as well as that attociously derivative “The Middle”

    • Marie

I e-mail ABC quite a bit about renewing ‘Better Off Ted’ and moving it to Wednesday. There’s also an on-line petition for it’s renewal. Until sites like this declare cancellation, I think we should keep trying to save it.

  • Jason8

    nope Ted is Dead

  • GoMe!

I liked this new Scrubs. They should’ve renamed it, gotten rid of the old characters, and just created a new show about medical school…

  • Heather

The new cast was endearing but really calling it Scrubs was NOT a smart move.

    • Anna

Bill Lawrence wanted to change the name, but the network wouldn’t let him.

  • m

In my mind the show ended last May…

  • Di

I agree. I really liked new Scrubs, as long as you look at it as a completely new show. I think the “series” finale of real Scrubs was absolutely beautiful, but I don’t think these 13 episodes detracted from that at all. I mean, Denise and Drew were like the mini Coxes, and that just made me happy. I think the codas were brilliant.

I loved the Janitor’s last scene and that Ted got his happy ending.

  • Matt2

I loved every episode of Scrubs: Med School. There was zero dropoff in quality as far as writing and acting were concerned. Great characters, great stories, and freaking hilarious from beginning to end, it was a great show regardless of what ratings dictate that ABC must/should/might do. I’d love to see it get a stay of execution but even if it doesn’t, i’ve got these episodes on the DVR to watch over and over again for a while until the DVD comes out. I really hope, if this is the end of this series, that this talented cast finds their way into ABC’s upcoming slate of comedies. These people are truly talented.

  • Jenna

I really enjoyed Scrubs 2.0. I don’t watch tv on tv, so I really tried to watch it on hulu. The characters were great, and I definitely wish they could last longer.

  • Rebekah

Last season’s finale of Scrubs was PERFECT. It would have been the best ending for a great show. I only mildly like the new version. The hilarious spot for me was Drew played by Dave Franco. But really, that was it. Even Cox & Turk, who I normally love, were a bit dry.

    • Marian

Dave Franco (James’ brother) played Cole and Michael Mosley played Drew. I thought the four main medical students were all hilarious, actually (including Kerry Bishe and Eliza Coupe).

  • robinepowell

I never watched Scrubs, but even I thought 2.0 was a mistake.

Not all spin-offs/remakes are a good idea.

    • kgb

If you never watched the first one, you really have no right to comment on this subject. You missed out on one awesome show in the original Scrubs.

  • Jed

Honestly…ABC needs to cancel and bury this show right here and now…enough already. This should have been canned a year ago as 9 seasons are enough for this kind of a show. Stick a fork in it, it’s done.

  • Jen

I like Scrubs 2.0. Yeah, it’s not as good as the original, but it’s still better than the majority of the garbage on TV.
