American Idol season one finalist Tamyra Gray is pregnant, the singer revealed exclusively to EW. This is the first child for Gray and music producer husband Sam Watters, a former member of ’90s group Color Me Badd. ”I’m just trying to take care of myself and enjoy it,” she said. ”This is way harder than Idol.”
The couple, who wed in 2006, does not plan on learning the sex of the baby, Gray said. She is due in July.
I was actually surprised to read that she got married before having a baby. Times certainly have changed.

It’s been too long since Idol Season 1. She should give up trying, and just raise her kid. She can’t say that she didn’t try, now it’s time to focus on being a good parent and be happy with what she’s achieved.
I love EW’s obsessive Idol coverage and all, but this is not front page Entertainment News… someone who was on a game show once is pregnant? Are we gonna have to hear about every contestant forever? For Idol completists only.
I agree with Darc. Besides, Sams already raking in the money everytime any of the songs from his former band are played.
So she should be a mother and forget trying to do things in the entertainment field? If her husband is raking it in from his former songs, why doesn’t he stay at home and let Tamyra audition and make new music? Saying she should throw in the towel and stay home and be happy just being a mother is sexist. Just as a man can be a father and a professional, so can a woman.
She was in “Rachel getting Married” a low-budget indie film starring Anne Hathaway that also was one of the best films of 2008.
She is still a star and she’s making her slow rise to the top.

It’s been a half decade so she should forget the entertainment business? That’s crazy. She’s been in movies, televisions shows, put out albums, and has written songs. In short, she’s not a starving artist but is making her living as an entertainer. She’s versatile, and though she may never be a star like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, she certainly can make a living with music and acting. It’s disgusting when people say a woman should only be a mother when she gets pregnant. I agree with Ed. No one would tell her husband to stop producing music and be a stay-at-home dad. Yes, they both need to spend more time at home to take care of their child, but it doesn’t have to be a one-or-the-other choice. She can be both a mother and an entertainer.
Tamyra was always a favorite of mine; she was robbed in Season 1 (she should’ve been in the finals with Kelly). Tamyra has done a few Broadway shows and she wrote the AI winning song that Fantasia sang (so she made lots of money from that hit). Congrats Tamyra!

I remember Sam since he was in one of my singing groups, Color Me Badd. I also remember Tamyra since she was on American Idol and Boston Public show. Both of them are excellent singers and make an excellent couple. So, I want to say congradulations on their first child. I wish them the best of everything.
