Barry Pepper, an actor known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan and The Green Mile, has joined the cast of the Ethan and Joel Coen’s True Grit, which already includes Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, and Hailee Steinfeld, according to Variety. Pepper will share his real last name with his on screen character’s last name, as he’ll be portraying “Lucky” Ned Pepper, who Robert Duvall brought to life in the 1969 original.

Remaking “True Grit” is obscene. I refuse to watch it.
Well, now I’m confused. I always thought Brolin was playing Ned Pepper. So who’s he playing, Chaney? And Waya, I was not happy about the remake at first either. But we still have the beloved original on dvd, and it’s not like they’d re-release it for the big screen(I wish). So I’ve some to terms with it. At least we’ll have a good western on the screen this year. Geting tired of the 3D scifi/fantasy cgi fest. And for all the talk about the filmmakers being more faithful to the book, well, I just read the book and the original was pretty doggone faithful.
I’d worry if it weren’t the Coen Brothers doing the remake. They’re just brilliant enough to pull it off.
the Coen’s couldn’t pull off a remake of the classic “The Ladykiller’s” and I doubt it that they can successfully do this John Wayne classic any justice.
