Corey Haim's cause of death deferred, says coroner's office

Filed under: News and tagged:

The L.A. Coroner’s Office confirms that Corey Haim’s autopsy was completed earlier today. But don’t expect any results yet — According to the chief coroner investigator, “The cause of death has been deferred pending receipt of toxicology and histopathology tests.” The office expects to get results in six to eight weeks.

UPDATE: According to Access Hollywood, Haim’s mother — Judy Haim — says the coroner’s office called her to disclose the actor’s cause of death. She claims she was told the autopsy found the actor suffered pulmonary congestion, and found he had an enlarged heart and water in his lungs.

Giving them enough time to cover up the real cause of his death.

    • barry is a genius

yeah barry. The L.A. Coroner’s office, the City of L.A., and the State of CA, are covering this up.
      Put down that gluestick!

      • Sue1

Really. Why in the world would they have any reason to do that?

      • athletedate

        I miss you corey!

    • Tony

They wouldn’t. But some people like to drag others down so they feel better about their lives.

Also, so many people were hoping that he was on drugs so that they could tsk, tsk another celebrity, they’re grasping for straws looking for some excuse to sit in judgment of others.

      R.I.P. Corey
I think I saw one movie of yours that was bearable, but I feel bad that the vultures are circling your grave.

I agree. It was the same with Brittany Murphy. Guess what? Sometimes people, yes even young somewhat famous people, just DIE. They die from not taking care of themselves, from poor overall health, and un- or mis-diagnosed/treated illness.
But that doesn’t make an entertaining news program, magazine, or blog, now does it?

    • Brooke

Yes, because Corey freaking Haim is such a lofty, important figure in our nation’s history that his cause of death needs to be hushed up with a conspiracy of JFK-sized proportions.

    • Mike G

You are truly pathetic if you think they are “covering it up”… get real why in the world would the Coroner’s office cover Corey Haim’s death??

  • Andrea

It is possible for someone in the state of California to not have died in relation to drugs. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Maybe they shuld announce his cause of death before we start with the cospiracy theories. Just a thought.

    • Lori Adams

It would be so unlike us to do so…

    • Dee

SInce he was a confessed raging drug addict for years, I think it’s safe to assume.

      • Tony

Assume he was on drugs? Or hope he was on drugs so they have something to show off about at the watercooler? That’s the problem…

    • Phil McCracken

Well, he did have a well-documented history of drug abuse, it’s not like a wild theory or anything.

  • Mark

Who cares how he died? What possible difference does it make to anyone other than his family and his friends?

    • Christie

I wish more people had this attitude. What is the fascination with how celebrities die? Death is a very hard a and personal subject with the families left behind, the families didn’t ask to be put in the spotlight.

    • Angel

I agree. Who cares how he died? He’s gone and a lot of people are very hurt by this.

    • teresa

I’d like to know. It’s human to be curious.

      • tj

If you are curious about so called has beens deaths then it is time for you to get off the computer and find something else to do with your life. Sorry but the truth hurts

      • Tony

It’s also human to be respectful.

      • April C

I think a part of this fascination is that we non-famous folks desperately want there to be some dark tragic downside to being famous. Jealousy. I’m not saying everyone feels that way, just some.

      • Phil McCracken

Teresa, you’re right, and self-righteous people like tj and Tony obviously are curious too, otherwise they would on Greenpeace’s website and not commenting on this article.

  • mbug

ok have any of you guys ever delt with somebody that was addicted to pills. Well i have and if you have flu like symptoms then you have not taken to much. You are detoxing. And that can last up to a couple months. If anything his body was not use to not having anything in it and that is what happened..Withdraws**

  • Henry

R.I.P. Thank you for entertaining the masses.

    • ecough

he’s gonem gone and nuthin’s gonna bring him back, he’s gone

    • blinkysmom

Fellow Deadhead … isn’t this just so sad how vicious people can be?

  • Henry

    Withdrawals?

  • mbug

yeah I watch my little brother go thought it a couple times and he ended up in the hospital. And all he had was flu symptoms. And they told him that should never try to detox on his own.

  • Dana

pulmonary congestion equals drug interaction could be either drug overdose or underdose more than likely over

    • Eli

      no it doesn’t

  • Heather

It was a tragic loss. We should remember how he lived and how he touched us thru his movies. RIP Corey.

    • Sue1

      I couldn’t agree more, Heather.

  • Jaime

I live in CA, and people would be quite surprised at how rampant drug use is here. At times, people look at me funny when I say I haven’t tried (ie-illegals) or misused(ie pills and such). I’m 31 and grew up in Sacramento (state capital)-which IS the meth capital of the country. It’s “normal” for most people here to be able to spot a meth user (aka “tweaker”) at a glance! With celebrities, there are tons of reasons that they add to this…Think about their hectic schedules, pressures (eg: performance, appearing and/or interviewing all over creation, looking perfect, being perfect, etc) lack of sleep, constant travel (think neverending jet lag), always feeling watched-and other stuff most of us can’t imagine. That’s a recipe for self medicating (if you have enough money-you can get someone to prescribe the crap you want…or deal you the illegal drugs), nervous breakdowns, mental problems, hurting themself or someone else, etc. That’s not even taking into account the people that had mental problems, prior drug use, violence, etc BEFORE their “big break”! Take into account that Corey Haim was a child star-I’m sorry to say it, but adult celebrities that started out as child stars have an even higher rate of problems with addiction (eg-drugs, alcohol, Rx pills, bulimia, etc) than celebrities who started out closer to adulthood. Stop hunting for conspiracies where they likely don’t exist…besides, even if there was one-you’d likely never know the truth of it!

    • milkman

well that sums it up for me I’ve been there,
      Cory will be missed DEARLY

  • jia

Why would they cover up anything? No reason too. My heart goes out to his mother and family. I loved him as a child star and prayed for him as an adult. Such a sweet man.

  • Jay

    “Silver Bullet” forever!

    • Mel

I loved that movie Silver Bullet. One of his best and yet never mentioned. So sad that another life gone due to drugs. Even though they are saying he was getting better. All those years of drug use. I wonder if he knew just how much he was loved.

  • ken

This man was a great Actor and a wonderful person

  • Jason B

Concpricy theories?? Who was he JFK?? He was a person with a history of drug abuse and his heart was probably enlarged. I mean the drug use does affect all organs in your body. Or maybe it was the shooter in the grassy knoll.

  • jennifer

May he rest in peace. My heart goes out to his family. Loved him as a teenager BIG fan.

    • craven

where do the lost boys go
