Conan O'Brien announces tour dates

Categories: News, TV Biz, Television

Conan O’Brien announced that his live comedy tour will stop at 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada, beginning April 12 in Eugene, Ore. The show’s title, “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour,” refers to the fact that O’Brien’s settlement with NBC forbids him from appearing on television again until Sept. 1. Ticket prices will start at $39.50. O’Brien broke the news on his Twitter feed, writing: “Hey Internet: I’m headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour. Go to http://TeamCoco.com for tix. I repeat: It’s half-assed.”

    I’d rather have a half-assed CoCo than a full-assed Leno. Heck, I’d a tenth-assed CoCo would still be superior to BigJaw’s rear.

    • The Original Von Raschke’s Claw

Plese stay on topic. Don’t turn this into a Leno vs. Conan thing again. We all know how Team CoCo sheep get easily juiced about this.

      • Charles

The “Team CoCo sheep”? It’s not difficult to guess that you’re part of the Leno Metamucil crowd…

      • Brian

If anything defines Conan’s fans, it’s that they’re NOT sheep. They care enough about quality of material to practice discrimination when it comes to television comedy.

      • Inception will win best pic next year

You are ALL wrong, enlist in the Robot Skeleton Army and follow Craig Ferguson!!!!!!!!
Robert Pattinson’s character dies on 9/11 in the end of “Remember Me”

      • Eric

Brian I respectfully disagree. When a painting of someone’s face gets turned into a facebook campaign, some of their fans may in fact be sheep. A lot of people like Leno (although I don’t personally know any), but all of the elites (aka people who read entertainment blogs) are on Conan’s side.

      • Holly

Eric, I respectfully posit to you that you may, in fact, be wrong – and likely a bit of an arrogant ass. All of the comedians (aka people who live and breathe comedy) are on Conan’s side.

      • Jerkin Satchiken

Holly, please reread Eric’s post. He’s on Team CoCo. If you don’t behave, your team privileges will be revoked.

      • Yugo Blind

        @Jerkin Satchiken-
Please reread Eric’s post. He’s on TeamDouche, not TeamCoCo.
Also, I think your time spent jerking the chicken may have impaired your eyesight. I’d seek professional help.

      • Holly

Yeah Jerky Sackin – what Yugo said.

      • East Coaster

I love Conan, but I cannot stand Coco fans as of late. If you don’t agree with everything they say, then you’re Team Leno (this Team thing is a stupid concept anyway), which in turn makes you a Republican, which in turn you makes middle-aged, which in turn makes you evil. It makes me wonder what’s the typical age group of the average person who’s part of the Team Coco movement. Seeing as you guys borrow the “Team” thing from Twilight, I think it’s fair to assume that most of you guys are immature teenagers. Oh yeah, and I’m an 18-year-old saying this.

      • Holly

East Coaster – I don’t use the “Team” thing, I just think Conan is clearly the funnier, more original comedian, and that Jay stabbed him in the back. And even if Jay gets more numbers, it still doesn’t change the fact that he sucks. People assume Jay’s supporters are older and more conservative because he has more bland and dull “jokes”, and he often expresses conservative views in interviews.

      • In Charge

You East Coasters are all alike. You should form a team or something…

      • lin

I thought Jay Leno sucked before Conan ever had his own show. Leno was always Johnny crappiest guest host. I would even say I would have rather watched Joan Rivers and thats bad

      • Lindz

Actually, the “Team” thing didn’t start with the Twihards, it was just destroyed by them. The first place I saw it was long ago on passiveaggressivenotes dot com.

        Conan is bomb.

    • ART

I totally disagree… Conan is just not funny. Why do you think NBC bought out his contract and not Jay Leno’s … because Conan’s ratings sucked big time. NBC is not stupid, if it was the other way around, they would have kept him. Also, Conan is the one who didn’t want do the show at 12:05. What a cry-baby!!!

      • Nick

NBC bought out his Contract because he refused to allow The Tonight Show to be moved from the traditional time of 11:30 to 12:00 to make room for Jay Leno. Don’t forget this all happened cause Jay Leno was getting terrible ratings. Jay Leno could have done the same thing, he said it himself, and taken the money instead of trying to defile the Tonight Show. I used to like Leno but I will never watch him again after he screwed over Conan!

    • Deeinbram

Seems to be so many fans of Conan once he got dumped by CBS…where were you all when he Hosted the Tonight Show and his ratings sucked cause hardly anyone was watching??????TV is about ratings….period….you don’t draw an audience, you get cancelled…period.

      • Rich

He got dumped by CBS?!? What color is the sky in your world?…

    • Amy

Inception will win best pic next year…you are such a jack a s s. Why do you spoil movies for people? I’m not some Twihard but I wanted to see that you pos.

  • Kim

He’s going to be at Bonnaroo! I’m excited!

    • Cheri

I’m totally with you! Got my Bonnaroo ticket last week, and this will be #1 of my must-see selections!

    • Lay Jeno

Man, Eugene, San Francisco, Boulder, Austin, Bonnaroo that list of cities reads like a who’s who of douchebaggery.

      • D’s Advocate

Eugene’s not really known douchebags as much as it is hippies and anarchists. If you’re gonna tease, tease correctly.

      • D’s Advocate

“not really known *for its* douchebags”. Sorry; too busy trying to take down The Man to type correctly :)

  • orville

Tickets are going fast! All the “cheap seats” in Chicago are gone already.

    • JosieG

Minneapolis tickets out too. All that were left were $250 hot seats.

    • Lizabeth

Tulsa, OK is sold out, too. Except the package deals. BUMMER.

    • julie

I know…I would have gladly made the 5 hour drive to Chi-town, but it was sold out before I even knew Conan was coming. Wish there had been a heads-up. *Sigh*

      • Lay Jeno

There was, you missed it. Typical Conan fan, not actually supporting Conan.

      • Beau

“Typical Conan fan, not actually supporting Conan.”

Who are all these non-typical fans selling out his shows so quickly?

Another brilliant comment from the “I spend my life reading articles about Conan so I can tell others I don’t like him” Camp

  • jason.

Ah, Vancouver and Toronto. That’s Canada, right there.

Seriously, Conan (and hundreds of other tours): where’s the Prairie-Love? Do you think we don’t have money or a desire to see you?
    >sigh<

    • Yes

He has a show in Alberta.

      • cheeseman

Where in Alberta? All I saw was Vancouver and Toronto.

      • cheeseman

        Wait. I found it.

      • Vanessa

        He’s playing in Edmonton

  • Melanie

I got the “cheap seats” in Chicago! I’m so excited! I hope Andy comes too!

    • orville

Geeez….how’d you do that? By the time I got to the site, they only had the middle & expensive seats left. I love Coco, but I’m not sure I can afford $80+ for a seat.

And didn’t Andy do an interview this week where he said that he’d probably be on the tour?

      • Melanie

I got them 10 minutes after I saw Conan’s tweet!

      • Adam K

I have to agree on the price of tix. Really he just got how many millions and he is going to charge that much money!? I used to love conan, but he is really starting to strike me as an entitled smug prick. My tickets to Paul McCartney were more reasonable, and he is a legend and a former Beatle. What has Conan really done!? His buddy Gaffigan doesnt even charge that much.

      • orville

Man…even the 2nd show is sold out now. Come on Coco–add another date!

      • rob Staup

        FRONT ROW IN PHOENIX!!!!!

      • Pete

        Adam,

You do realize that Conan is using this money to pay all the staffers who relocated from NY to LA only to have Jay Leno screw them over.

Each staffer who stays on Conan’s payroll is one less person losing their house, one less person going on unemployment, one less person having to pay bills with credit cards.

      • claytron5000

Adam, really your McCartney tickets were more reasonable? I just did a quick search of his tour at four different venues and the average price for upper level seating was $168. And Conan’s buddy Jim Gaffigan, Hard Rock Cafe tickets average $65.
Enjoy watching the new and improved Jay Leno show Mctruthiness. Plus Conan is not doing this for himself(maybe a little revenge) but for his people.

      • orville

Ah well, at least I was able to get tickets to Craig Ferguson in Chicago.

      • lin

        Whos Craig Ferguson?

      • Lay Jeno

Conan’s staff has already gotten their money for this extended vacation they’re getting. Now Conan’s just lining his pockets.

  • Jennifer

    OMG I have tickets. OMG!

    • S.O.

WHEW!!!! Already got mine for the Seattle Show!

  • Vivi

Absolutely LOVE the title of his show! I am sooo going to be there.

  • Tony

To Jason- Enoch, AB is outside Edmonton

  • Clayton

Can’t wait for him to come to OSU. It’s going to be awesome!

    • Brian

GO BLUE! Haha, sorry, Clayton. At least we can agree on Conan?

      • Lay Jeno

It isn’t Ohio State you moron. Oregon State.

      • Sam

        Seriously Oregon State, Dumb. Ass.

      • Alan

Bahaha, He is coming to Ohio State on May 24th for a private show to OSU students. I’m holding the ticket. Moron…. and “Dumb. Ass.”

  • Akane

This sounds great, too bad he wont be close enough to go see him, but I am sure it would be fun! Enjoy!!!

  • Megan

YAY JUNE 2nd!!!!!!!!!!! TEAM COCO FOREVER!!!!!!!

  • Danielle

Either I need to get my eyes checked or there were no Ohio dates. No Coco for me!

  • Garrett

I got my tickets to DC! I can’t believe how much tickets are going for on eBay already; a pair of tickets for like $400.00 (and getting bids). I might have to sell two tickets and let someone else enjoy the show (and me enjoy the profits!).

  • mscisluv

Not coming anywhere near Cincinnati, so sadly, I will not be going!

    • julie

He’s coming to Chicago, but it’s sold out already…(and yes, I live in Cincy–I consider Chicago close)

  • rks1

Those ticket prices are a RIP OFF!

    • Brian

      Waaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

    • Xavier

40 bucks seems pretty reasonable to me…

      • Lay Jeno

If you got them. Otherwise you have to hope you’re one of the Ivy League elites like Conan in order to afford tickets. Kind of funny that his core group of fans, poor college kids, can’t afford to see him. Nice job Conan.
