Corey Feldman opens up about the loss of his 'brother' Corey Haim

On his personal blog, actor Corey Feldman opened up about friend Corey Haim, who passed away early this morning from a suspected overdose. The pair worked together on The Lost Boys, Blown Away, and the A&E series The Two Coreys. In the message, Feldman wrote:

“I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren’t even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived.”

You wake up at 8:30? Son, you need some direction!

    • A-rod

Paul you are truly a douche

      • Paul Riser

        Thanks for the compliment.

    • TK

A person loses his best friend and all you can say Paul is that he needs direction? You have no idea why he was asleep at 8:30, maybe he had a late work gig, who knows. Your remark was tactless, rude, and I guess that is the kind of person YOU are. Shame.

    • Nic

You seem unhappy with your life, Paul. You should go back to sleep.

I’m very sorry for their loss.

    • M

Paul, you are an idiot. People can awaken whenever they choose and it says nothing of their character, lot in life, personhood, or otherwise.

    • Sergio

You’re just a troll who could use some direction yourself. The time you wake up says nothing about your accomplishments or work ethic.

    • Lynn

I can’t believe that everybody is so zeroed in on the comment about what time Feldman woke up. I think you’ve all gotten a little off the path here. You’re all so busy trying to change Jason’s personal opinion that the entire point has been lost.

  • Whit

    Paul…tactless.

  • Megan

Paul, you need some direction to learn how to be funny and not a jackass.

  • eustace

    who cares?

  • Chris

WHO CARES!!!! DRUG USERS USUALLY DO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!111

    • Jay

      Everybody dies, moron.

  • Paul Riser

I completely disagree. Nothing I wrote is jackassery. A grown man should not wake up at 8:30am on a weekday…unless he’s a daysleeper. In which case, I guess my comment makes no sense.

    • Why not

      Why not?

    • whatevs

Except he doesn’t have a job. There’s no need for him to wake up before noon to be honest.

    • LB

I don’t understand your moral judgment on the time of day that a person wakes up…especially since it’s 8:30am…I mean he didn’t say noon. I’m a little baffled by that. Why the moral judgment?

    • Nshi

Actually he was “AWAKENED at 8:30″, who knows how long he would have actually slept??

      • TK

And your poing is? Who the freak cares why he was alseep at 8:30 am. Hell I work a night shift and I am asleep at 8:30am, so I guess that makes me a douche? What the freak ever moron!

      • Jay

        good point

    • Cindy

Why do you say “grown man”? Just because he’s a man he should wake up earlier?

    • ck

Lawyers generally get into the office around 10/10:30 so they can wake up at 8:30. Maybe he’s a lawyer!

      • Nshi

unless they have a long commute. Thus, waking up at 8:30 is too late.

      • CMcB

Corey Feldman as a lawyer? Now that is the funniest joke Ive heard on this entire thread! HAHAHAHA

    • flower

Why? I have a doctorate, do academic research until 3-4 AM, get 5 hours of sleep and wake up around 9AM. Hey, that makes me a loser with no direction because I wake up after 8:30 AM according to Paul. Actually, people that make judgement on other people do it because it makes them feel superior. It’s a reflection of their own lack of self confidence. If you were truly happy with yourself, you wouldn’t judge other people. You don’t need to.

      • Paul Riser

I wouldn’t brag about getting 5 hours of sleep. Maybe that explains why all your experiments fail.

      • TK

How would YOU know that Paul? Flower seems intelligent, and they seem to have a direction, what is yours? To be a complete moron? Well you made it douchebag.

      • Paul Riser

Thanks for the kind words, TK.

    • julie

I can’t believe this is the direction the comments are taking. This is even stupider than the grammar/spelling wars.

      • grammar

This is more stupid, than the grammar/spelling wars. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

    • CMcB

      LOL Paul is great…

  • E. Layne Boozer

Paul, you made me spew my drink out my nose!

  • Man

He was awakened at 8:30 but he would have likely woke up past that.

    • woman

      you’re not helping.

  • Terry

I have no idea what Corey Feldman was doing, but waking up at 8:30 doesn’t sound like someone partying all night. For the record, I worked 2nd shift for many years and usually got up around that. Maybe he was working, who knows, but why do you assume that he needs some direction. For that matter, maybe he has some money and doesn’t have to drag himself up at the crack of dawn.

  • Ed Ginpky

Boo Hoo hoo Another Hollywood brat bites the dust of his own will. Just proves again how insignificant these people really are to the real working stiff.

    • flower

Insignificant people seem to feel significant when they make judgements about others. Do you feel bigger now Ed?

      • Paul Riser

I think Ed will feel bigger if you rub him flower.

      • TK

Awwww another lost one bites the dust, and I am talking about YOU Paul. I guess the only attention someone like you gets is here on the internet, how sad for you. Ok done. Next……

      • Paul Riser

        Thanks, TK. I hearts internets.

      • CMcB

Paul I think TK is more interested in you than in Flower… LOL

  • zymrgy

Not only does he get woken up at 8:30….but apparently he does not see his own son off to school. Yup…a real role model

    • Weird

Weird, weird comments here. Could be the dude works late and the mother always sees the kid off in the morning. It’s not uncommon. Not everyone lives your life, guy.

    • Ryan

IS there anything saying he didn’t get up, see his son off to school, and go back to bed? OR maybe the mother sees the children off to school and daddy is there when they get home. That’s not unreasonable no matter how you cut it.

As for a grown man shouldn’t be waking up at 8:30Am on a weekday. Why not? If you are an actor between jobs, no harm. If you are an actor with a job, as long as you make it there on time, what’s the big deal. Heck maybe he works 3rd shift at Taco Bell and therefore sleeping in makes sense. Basically WTF does how late someone sleeps have to do with anything.

And RIP Haim, I loved License to Drive when I was growing up.

      • lettergirl

well said…and ditto on the movie. one of my faves!

      • Felicia

        Thanks. You’re absolutely right.

    • Deb

Zymrgy, Feldman and his wife are separated at the moment, and if she has primary custody (she does), SHE would be the one waking up with the child. Not everyone works a 9-5 job….why do so many commenters want to play Wake-up Police? Get a life!

  • dave

PAUL nice comment, I did laugh when I read your comment. Screw what everybody else thinks, they feel that just because someone OD’ on drugs we all have to be in mourning with them

    • Felicia

So basically you and a couple of other posters just got on here to be a$$holes, right? How about if next time, you just don’t click on this article if you don’t care, k?

    • Kev

I agree with you bro. Why the hell should we mourn a man who was a drug addict. He killed himself, and while that is sad, well I sure ain’t going to mourn someone like that. His death was preventable, unless they give us the story that he die of natural causes. Yeah ok.

Paul and Dave you guys rock!

  • Sean

While addicts should show more respect for life, they are not the only ones responsible to do so. We all need to return our hearts to a place where we are not glib or unfeeling about the loss of any life. If not with compassion for the addict, then compassion for the family or friends that may have feared for this outcome and be left with our cruel words during an already painful time. Who are we?!

    • TequilaSunrise

      Bravo.

  • Becky

Blah Blah Blah…. BIG FREAKING DEAL!!! We have soldiers dying and people just either say hmm that’s unfortunate or just simply choose to ignore it. We have some “celebrity” die and the whole world stands still. Maybe I sound like a jerk but you know what, if he actually did something for me, I would mourn. The only people I will mourn for are family, friends, and soldiers who’ve actually done something for me. Big freaking deal. One less drug addict on the planet is the way I see it.

    • tarot

Yeah but the difference is that soldiers kill babies in the name of oil, so they don’t deserve any sympathy

      • Jaded

Tarot, you sound as if you’re moments away from an overdose as well.

      • Kev

Tarot I am in the military and I resent what you said. What an igornant piece of crap. I dare you to get off your lazy azz and defend your country you sorry piece of sh*t. Put your country where your piehole is son.

      • tarot

@kev: hahaha, I doubt you’re in the military. I mean if you really were “serving” your country right now, then I don’t think you would be wasting your time commenting on an entertainment site. Guess what I’m trying to say is, Ill get off my lazzy ass if you move out of your parent’s basement you worthless mouth breather :-D

      • CMcB

Its funny how Tarot has something to say towards military when our soldiers fight for that reject to type their opinion online… Tarot.. You ARE a tool and should go join Haim :)

    • Cindy

Soldiers go off to war knowing full well that they could die. It’s not really much of a shock when it happens.

    • wakeforce

I sincerely hope that someone Becky cares about dies of a drug overdose! Let’s hope she’ll have the same sucky attitude, then!

    • Deb

Can we send Sean Penn and some papparazzos to Becky’s house? I think they’d make a great couple!
Actualy, I don’t…even after wishing cancer on people, he’s way classier than her.

  • John

He lives with his brother and sister?
