According to CBS news, a man was arrested today in Woodland Hills, California yesterday for allegedly threatening Dr. Drew Pinsky, the star of VH1′s Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew.
Pinksy claims that Charles Pearson made multiple threats online, including one that he would kill the doctor’s children and make his wife eat them; Pearson, he also reportedly believes that Drew installed a tracking device in his genitals.
According to the L.A. NBC affiliate, Drew said, “I hope this guy gets treatment because clearly he needs it. He’s probably suffered terribly and we got a dose of it directed our way. He literally was making explicit plans to kill my children. And then making threats to my wife that she would have to eat them. Very bizarre. I feel like we’re safe now.”
Pearson has been charged with felony stalking and is currently being held on $150,000 bail.

It’s scary these people are out on the street. I used to answer the phone for a place that had the same guy calling in all the time saying someone had put explosives in his teeth and people could set them off with their cell phones. He also (repeatedly) said that the police came in and pissed on his VCR. At first it was a little scary, then it was funny, but mainly it was just sad since he obviously took all these delusions seriously.

I know Dr. Drew is probably putting a positive spin on this, but I hope he realizes that police don’t have a really good track record on stopping stalkers, and indeed they are very hard to stop while they are focused on their obsession. He needs to contact someone like Gavin deBecker. I went to college with Drew Pinsky, he was a very kind guy and appears to still be- I hope he and his family continue well and safe.
