Fox’s American Idol coasted to an easy win Tuesday night with a two-hour live performance episode. NBC’s multi-generational family drama Parenthood debuted modestly at 8.1 million total viewers, but it did beat the 10 p.m. hour’s viewership winner, CBS’ The Good Wife, in the 18-49 demographic — and Parenthood lost less than 4 percent of its audience over the hour. Wow I was expecting a lot more for Parenthood, so was NBC I’m sure. But they probably won’t cancel it, they can’t afford to
I expected Parenthood to do a little bit better. Doesn’t The Biggest Loser usually pull in slightly better numbers than 8.2 mil? Isn’t it usually around 10 mil? And I assumed Parenthood would pull in numbers around 10 mil as well. Bu regardless, Parenthood held on to nearly 100% of its lead-in audience. I guess NBC should be happy about that.
I’m hoping Parenthood will pick up. For a pilot it was okay, just needs to put a litte more pazaaz or something into the show.
I’ll watch another couple of episodes and hope it picks up the pace.
I’m looking forward to Glee coming back, so I’m not sure whether I should be relieved or disturbed that American Idol is still doing well. Seriously, who picked this year’s Top 24? Probably the same guy who turned down Mercedes.
