According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple Inc. has filed a lawsuit against HTC Corp., the manufacturers of smart phones that use Google’s Android system. Apple Inc., claims the phone HTC made for Google violates numerous iPhone patents. “We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

Really? Protecting your patents is bad? Making others find new and innovative solutions instead of taking someones work? I get it- technology is all about improving on something else someone did but isn’t it odd that all of sudden after the iPhone- we have all of these touch screen phones? it is not like they were all over before the iPhone. Anyone remember such great devices as the Moto Q- terrible phone and looks awful now.

Uh- dude you pay for innovation. If it didn’t cost any money to develop- it would be the buy one get one that are all over the market.
I don’t know much about the patents but I do have the HTC phone which I think they are talking about as it is a Google Android phone, but I also own an iPod touch and am very familiar with the iPhone through that and my friend’s iPhone. Love both systems, and I have to say that my phone does not have much in common with the iPhone, but furthermore it is no competition for the iPhone. iPhone is a much better product, so if Apple is worried about that, they needn’t fear. However I would be interested to see what exactly they are saying HTC copied.

Steve Jobs thinks he invented everything. Not too long ago, he raised a stink about a grocery chain in Australia that have an apple for its logo, and now this. I hope this gets tossed out of court. They’re just scared of competition. This is why Steve has the reputation as a douche.
Might want to check the facts. The logo was nearly identical to Apple’s. not like he was trying to tick off a grocery chain.
The phone does look similar but really Steve Jobs? This is how competition works. He should know better. BTW, my iPhone has been crashing like crazy lately. I’m about to give it up for a BB.
