Exclusive: Allison Iraheta to perform 'Scars' on 'American Idol' Thursday-night results show

Allison Iraheta, fourth-place finisher from season 8 of American Idol, will perform her new single “Scars” during the show’s Thursday-night telecast (8 p.m. ET on Fox). A live performance by the red-headed rocker should provide momentary respite for the four season 9 semifinalists (two men, two women) who’ll get the boot during the course of the hour-long telecast. “Scars,” written by Toby Gad and Alyssa James, and produced by Gad, is a ballad from Iraheta’s 2009 debut Just Like You; a rep from 19 Entertainment confirms “Scars” will be the followup single to “Friday I’ll Be Over U.”

As previously announced, Thursday’s episode of Idol will also feature season 8 champ Kris Allen performing and sharing footage of his recent trip to Haiti to raise awareness and funds that will benefit the UN Foundation’s work in the earthquake-ravaged country; that organization is one recipient of this year’s “Idol Gives Back” campaign. Thursday’s telecast will encourage viewers to donate money online and via text-message.

EMI says Abbey Road Studios not for sale

Categories: Music

Abbey Road Studios—the famous London music complex where the Beatles recorded the majority of their music—will not be sold, according to a statement issued Sunday by owner EMI. This announcement comes in the wake of a public outcry that followed reports that the cash-strapped EMI would put Abbey Road up for sale to relieve debt. (In addition to save-Abbey-Road campaigns on Facebook and Twitter, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber publicly expressed interest in purchasing the studio.) In today’s statement, though, the company did say that it is “holding preliminary discussions for the revitalisation of Abbey Road with interested and appropriate third parties.” EMI also noted that it turned down an offer last year to buy the studio “in excess of £30m (roughly $46 million) but this was rejected because we believe that Abbey Road should remain in EMI’s ownership.” In addition to the Beatles, which named their 1969 album Abbey Road, artists such as Radiohead and Pink Floyd have recorded at the studio, which began operation in 1931.
