'The Nate Berkus Show' will air this fall on NBC in 10 major markets

The Nate Berkus Show, a daytime series starring Oprah Winfrey’s design expert Nate Berkus, was cleared to air on NBC Local Media’s 10 markets this fall, which includes major cities like New York and Los Angeles. The show is described as “a daily syndicated multi-topic and multi-segment series that will present a broad range of subjects and guests based on lifestyle, entertainment and personal transformation.”

ABC Family picks up Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence sitcom

ABC Family has picked up Melissa & Joey, a new half-hour comedy starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. Hart plays a local politician struggling to raise her niece and nephew who hires Lawrence as her “manny.” The network has ordered 10 episodes to premiere in 2010.

Actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are engaged, according to People. The pair co-star in the new film When in Rome, which opened to $12 million this past weekend.

Ratings: Grammys hit six-year high, dominate Sunday

CBS easily won Sunday night’s ratings race with a 52nd Annual Grammy Awards that hit a six-year high for the event, 26.6 million viewers, according to early Nielsen estimates. The Eye net also came out on top the rest of the weekend as well, thanks to 48 Hours Mystery on Saturday (7.1 million) and Ghost Whisperer (8.3 million) and Medium (8 million) on Friday. Fox’s Dollhouse concluded its run on Friday with a typically weak 2.2 million viewers while 20/20 drew its strongest numbers in three months — 8.1 million viewers — with an interview with John Edwards’ former aide Andrew Young.

Rip Torn court date set

Actor Rip Torn is set to appear before a Connecticut judge on Monday to face charges stemming from his arrest this past weekend after police reportedly found him intoxicated inside a local bank with a firearm. Torn, 78, will be arraigned on firearm and burglary charges in Bantam Superior Court.

Grammys drew 26.6 million viewers, highest total since 2004

A whopping 26.6 million viewers watched the Grammy Awards on CBS last night, according to Nielsen — more than any year since 2004. (This information comes from preliminary overnight ratings, which could change slightly when the final numbers come in this afternoon.) By comparison, the 2009 telecast pulled in 19.0 million viewers, while 2008′s drew 17.1 million.

UPDATE: According to more complete ratings provided by CBS, last night’s Grammy Awards drew 25.8 million viewers. This remains the highest-rated Grammys telecast since 2004.

'Avatar' is the first $2 billion movie

Avatar became the first film ever to gross more than $2 billion worldwide this weekend, Reuters reports. James Cameron’s sci-fi epic has currently brought in a whopping $2.039 billion around the world over seven weekends, easily beating the $1.843 billion worldwide that Cameron’s Titanic achieved in 1998. Avatar‘s domestic gross has also continued to grow, most recently reaching $594 million.

'Big Love' star Ginnifer Goodwin in romantic comedy 'Something Borrowed'

Big Love‘s Ginnifer Goodwin has been cast in the lead role of romantic comedy Something Borrowed, Variety reports. She will play a New York lawyer who falls for her best friend’s fiancé. Luke Greenfield is directing the film, based on a novel by Emily Giffin, with shooting set to begin this spring.
