Thursday Ratings: Olympics top 'Idol'

The Winter Games edged out another win against American Idol last night, but ladies’ figure skating, long thought to be the ratings-grabber for the Olympics, couldn’t top last Wednesday’s U.S. medal extravaganza. Perhaps predictably, new episodes of Survivor, The Deep End, and Kitchen Nightmares were no match for two of the biggest forces in the known universe: pop music and beautiful young women.

I can so understand why! AI is totally sucking this year! If the talent doesn’t start living up to the hype, the rating after the Olympics will go down as well!

you KNOW the AI folks read all this negative press. they will find some way to introduce some sort of talent and drama into it. i really don’t care either way–but this will be remedied sooner than later.

Kind of misleading headline, EW. Olympics had a few more viewers but Idol topped the 18-49 demos. Most entertainment websites like Tvbythenumbers.com now actually rate shows based on demos not numbers.

I’m wondering if EW is ever going to learn how to properly interpret the ratings. All signs point to no.

Rating are ridiculous to begin with – the nielsen ratings…what year is this? I want a combined DVR/actual ratings result.

Figure skating results are no surprise. They started way too late at night. Plus, I couldn’t name any of the women if I tried
