Image Credit: Vancouver police handoutAndrew Koenig, best known for his role as Boner on the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains, has been reported missing to the Vancouver Police Department, according to TMZ. Koenig’s sister, Danielle, confirmed the news to Zap2It.com. Koenig, 41, was last seen in the Canadian city that’s hosting the Winter Olympics on Feb. 14, and did not take his scheduled flight back to the U.S. two days later. Several celebrities, including Sarah Silverman, Alyssa Milano, and Doug Benson, are using Twitter to help find Koenig.
UPDATE: The Vancouver Police Department has confirmed that Koenig is missing, issuing the following statement: “Vancouver Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man last seen by friends on February 14th. Andrew Koenig, 41, is a Venice, California resident, who was visiting friends in Vancouver. He was scheduled to return home on February 16th and Vancouver Police were notified on February 18th after he didn’t arrive. Andrew has recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being. He is white, 5’5” tall, 135 lbs., with long, brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. Andrew, who once lived in Vancouver, liked walking in Stanley Park. Anyone who sees Andrew or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911.”

You’re a tool for that insensitive remark. It also is inaccurate as he works behind the scenes quite a bit. But I’ll always remember him for possibly inspiring Chris Nolan. In 2003, Andrew appeared as The Joker in a fan made film that was made by “professional” fans, in that they were people who were professionals in the movie/tv business, and not just some “regular guys.” The story had Batman confronting The Joker when suddenly Batman finds himself in the midst of a conflict between Aliens (as in Sigourney Weaver aliens,) and Predators who were probably hunting the aliens. Because of their connections, the people who made it had professional outfits and it was well put together. The cinematography was great, and the direction was solid, even the acting was decent. It was the “truest” to a comic book look and feel for Batman, and there is a scene where his cape is spread out and draws in as he stands up…very “comic bookish.” It’s called Batman:Dead End. It’s about 8 minutes long and you can easily find it on the internet. It’s worth viewing. Andrew did a decent good job as The Joker.

Hoping he’s just partying at the Olympics and skipped his flight…might be embarrassed about all the fuss and have explaining to do to his family, but that’s alot better than another possible outcome.
