Sean Penn charged with battery after kicking a photographer

Sean Penn has been charged with battery and vandalism for an October attack on a photographer, the Los Angeles Times reports. The L.A. city attorney’s office is accusing the actor of kicking the paparazzo and breaking his camera during the altercation, footage of which is available on TMZ.com. The two-time Oscar winner faces up to 18 months in prison, if convicted. This isn’t the first time Penn has gotten into hot water for being too physical. He was given jail-time in 1987 when he punched an extra on the set of Colors.

Paparazzi are the scum of the earth. So I don’t feel too bad for them when I hear that they’ve had the crap kicked out of them.

Good thing Robin Wright is no longer with him! She deserves better!

while he did assault the pap and should face charges something should be done about these pest. i mean it looks like it may have been outside his home which should be a no zone for paps. lets be honest he did what MANY would love to do. wasn’t there suposed to be some papa law passed this year what happened? i see no change.

No kidding. It’s disgusting how out of hand it’s gotten.

Papz know they should not mess with Mr Penn. How old was this one, 18?

  • John

While I don’t care for Sean Penn, I dislike these photographers who follow people around more.

What? Is this 1985 or something? Did Madonna and Penn go back together or something??

    • J

Yeah right it was all Madonna’s fault…Penn’s his OWN worst enemy.

At least Madonna figured it out and left while she still had a career, unlike Robin.

Typical mid-life crisis but Iistead of going out and buying the car he had when he was 25, he went out and beat up the guy he did when he was 25.

This might seem paranoid, but I’m beginning to suspect that Sean Penn is a sleeper agent planted by Republicans to discredit liberals, moderates and the entertainment industry in general.

You gotta own your own crap

  • Otis

If the Pap was close enough to smack, he was too close to Penn and actually assaulting penn who has every right to defend himself!

  • Celia

Isn’t he always getting charged with something?

  • Brett

Wrong, Otis. Penn had no right to physically batter another individual or to destroy that person’s personal property. Let’s hope the L.A. City Attorney is better at prosecuting celebrity defendants than the L.A. County District Attorney.

Who knew that when you become famous people want photos of you. Must be a new phenomenon.

  • kcglowboy

Prison time? He might actually get prison time? That’s just wrong — for decking scum paparazzi the man deserves a medal!

  • smitty

I have`nt seen the video and don`t know the EXACT facts so I can`t give a fair opinion on this. I do know that many of these papparazzi lack respect for privacy, are very intrusive and the industry in general seems out of control.
