Danelle Hayes, an American Idol hopeful who earned a ticket to Hollywood, ended up not making the trip because of her probation for a previous drunk driving charge. The Seattle Times reports that Hayes told station Q13 Fox in Seattle that she had a seven year deferred prosecution for drunk driving and producers didn’t want to get clearance with her probation officer every time she needed to leave the state.

and why should we care? i don’t even remember her.
I remember her. She was great. She was one female I would have voted for. She was awesome. Too bad.
I thought she was pretty damn good. Too bad. Hopefully her kid wasn’t in the car with her during her DUI episode.
yea hopefully not, and hopefully after that incident she’s stopped drinking and driving.
…and hopefully not with other kids in other cars on the roads.
My name is graertt bruton i just turned 15 on october 18th i just wanna try out and see wat yall think . Hope its not to late if it is some one tell me
Yeah, cause we can’t have any pop stars with criminal records!
there, but the only hope of cganhing that at this stage of the game is a) voting left, or b) bringing the status quo down altogether. B is only possible with a huge grass roots effort. A is an interim solution.

this is hardly news worthy.. lol
I wish that EW would provide a picture of her so I knew who they were talking about. That aside, shouldn’t the past be the past?
Louise, click the link on her name at the very beginning of the article.
Its not in her past so how can it be in the past. She’s still under probation. Guess she should of thought of the consequences before going out and boozing and driving.
The phrase is “should have” not “should of”. Please take note, America.
Mimi, will you marry me?
Do you even bother to read? It isn’t the past that’s the problem; it’s the PRESENT situation, that Idol would have to get permission from her probation officer each time she left the state.
It slhuod be Tom Araya, Kerry King, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lambardo as judges. They’d tell it like it is, and wouldn’t care about hurting the feelings off some wannabe pop stars
That’s too bad, her audition was good. Oh well.
D@mn! She was one of like, 3 people I remembered from the initial audition rounds. I was wondering where she’d been during Hollywood week. People with worse records have made it further in the competition…
That is true Zo, but Idol is being lazy, they would have to ask permission everytime she had to go out of state. Too bad, she was fantastic.
A few dceades at least. It focuses on an instrument that technology will never be able to replace. A few more factors are hope, inspiration, and feeding egos. These values are a staple of humanity.
It’s not a “previous brush with the law” since she is still under probation. I don’t understand deferred prosecution but it remains a DUI charge that is not yet resolved. For me (for you), AI made the only call possible.
Deferred prosecution occurs when the defendant is given the opportunity to stay out of legal trouble for a period of time, after which if they succeed, the charges are usually wiped clean..only offered when it appears likely that the offender can and will succeed…must have considered her a good candidate.
They also have required extensive drug and alcohol counseling during their probation period..
WHO?
She was good. If you do not remember her, you must not have seen her.
I hear she’s in the studio recording an EP right now. Keep an eye out!!!
