I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the caliber of artists today has become pregressively worse. People, Taylor Swift cannot sing! It doesn’t matter what time of day, of how long she is in the business, she will never be a singer.
Whatever happened to the great pop singers like Aretha Franklin, Karen Carpenter, Elvis, Whitney Houston, Dusty Springfield, Joni Mitchell, Frankie Valley, Barbra Streisand, Luther Vandross, Mariah Carey, Darlene Love, and Pattie LaBelle?
I don’t know why her label is trying to defend her. The duet she did the previous year with the other no-talent “singer”, Mylie Cyrus, was also off-key.
Some people have tried to compare her singing to people like Mick Jagger and Bob Dylan. The problem there is that those individuals CAN sing. You might not like the tembre of their voice, or their phrasing, but they do not sing off-key (or at least not as often as Ms. Swift).
It’s not to say that Ms. Swift is completely untalented: she can write fairly simple songs. That said, maybe she should stick to what she does better: write.
Face it, Mr. Borchetta, the girl doesn’t have a shred of vocal ability, and certainly no emotional quality.
It’s very unfortunate that the award shows have chosen to bestow so many awards to her over the past year. It just goes to show how irrelevant the award shows have become – including the Grammy’s.
It’s interesting to note the comparison with the state of the music industry today. All of the labels have been complaining for the last several years about lost profits due to “music piracy”. It’s not piracy causing their profit loss, it’s the quality of artists and music being put out today.
At least this time the Grammies gave an award to someone trying to sing, not lip-sync like Milli Vanilli. The Grammies are horrible at picking the best artists in the “Popular” categories. Perhaps they do better in the categories no one cares about….
Anyone that thinks this girls has any talent is obviously as challenged as she is…
You may not think Taylor is good, but her paychecks are wayyyyy bigger than yours! Thanks of course to all of your kids and you closet Taylor fans buying her CD’s.
swift sounds like a mewling crying kitty cat when she ‘sings’…must confess i like ’15′ and a few others which are catchy, but they don’t merit all those awards and that level of acclaim. she sounds a little better than miley cyrus who gets so screetchy and also sounds off key to me. pitchy. swift brags about writing her own songs, but how much of the song does she actually compose? she doesn’t appear like the sort of celebrity singer to have staying power, she’s weak in various areas. very. i hear she was awful in her duet with stevie nicks. will go try to find that & hear for myself, i bet they’re right
Pure and simple the little girl CAN’T sing and the industry knows it.
Well, she must be doing something right! Her tour is sold out and best selling album! Everyone has a bad night! I have been to 5 contcerts and taylor is great, and she deserve to have the best. Without people talking crap about her. Dont you have something better to do……..
