ABC Family announced that it will debut two new one-hour dramas in 2010: Huge, a look at six teens in a weight-loss camp, and Pretty Little Liars, a mystery series about a group of high schoolers (including Privileged‘s Lucy Hale) who receive unsettling texts that appear to be from a friend who has gone missing.

Y’know, I might watch PLL just for Lucy Hale. She was great in Privileged.

Is ABC looking to steal some of the CW’s audience?

    • Sarah T.

Yeah, actually they have been looking to steal some of that audience for awhile now. Hence the repeats of Gilmore and then original shows like “Secret Life”, “Greek”, etc. they’ve had this type of programing for a few years.
I think i would watch this show just for Lucy Hale too. I was really hoping that ABC Family would pick up Privileged last year when the CW (stupidly, stupidly) let it go. You know b/c Melrose is working out so well for them.

I don’t think that Melissa realized it was ABC Family that was picking up these shows. ABC Family and The CW have very similar markets.

PLT sounds interesting for sure. Not a big fan of Huge sight unseen.

    Sorry, PLL

i love pretty little liars those books are amasing cant wait to see what tv does to. ITS BASED ON A POPULER BOOKS SERIES WHICH R RELLY GOOD BOOKS

  • Skyy

Pretty Little Liars is going to be bad. I LOVE THE BOOKS, but it should more movie wise. And it doesn’t need to be on ABC family.

      I completely agree.
They’ll probably screw up the storyline, or compeltely change it so it fits into a tv show. It won’t be the same. PLL is one of my favorite book series, so I have hugh expectations that probably won’t be met. It really SHOULD be a movie/movie series instead. And ABC Family’s shows are usually (not always) really cheesy.

  • Uh

Pardon my bluntness but, they greenlighted this crap and yet Greek is on the verge of being canceled? What the heck?

I agree with Brooke…I’ll watch PLT for Lucy Hale. She was the reason I started watching Privileged!

I don’t care wht show it comes on I LOVE PLL!

I agree with Skyy in a way. The books are fantastic. Only “teen series” I can actually read. I just hope the TV show will be just as good. But, Lucy Hale and Ashley Benson as Aria and Hanna? I’m not sure… It sounds low budget. They should have aimed for something similar to Gossip Girl, not something similar to Priviledged (which was cancelled).

i REALLY wish the cw could have picked up PLL..i absolutely love the books, but i agree, abc family’s shows are usually lame…but i’ll def. be watching..very excited :)

Most of the shows on the station are crap any way. And not to disrespect any of the plus sized people, but the other show abc family is promoting HUGE is pure garbage. Nobody wants to watch a show about fat camp, basically glorify unhealthy people. Sorry if I offend but it’s just my opinion. kyle xy was the only thing that network had going for it.

ps. i’m all for shows about losing weight and getting healthy, but does anyone really think the actors of this show are gonna lose anything. There would be no purpose to doing a show starring overweight poeple if they’re gonna get healthy.

ABC FAMILY??? I am not ready to explain to my 2 and 8 year old why teen girls are kissing! We can’t watch a Funniest Home Videos without seeing this commercial. This is not a “family friendly” channel anymore. What a disappointment.
