I’m disappointed that, after the facts have been so well publicized, people are still willing to bend over backwards to reframe this.
“He didn’t actually rape her.”
Yes he did.
“He wasn’t charged with rape.”
Was the hell so.
“He wasn’t convicted of rape.”
No, he plea-bargained down, so the girl would be spared the indignity of testimony. This is common in assaults of minors.
“He suspected he was going to get an unjustly big sentence anyhow.”
Fear of going into a deep dark hole is part of the territory when you’re a rapist. Let your fancy-pants lawyers appeal your sentence. But once you’ve fled the jurisdiction, we all become victims of justice denied.
“He didn’t know how old she was.”
Yes, he damn well did, and the issue isn’t merely that she wasn’t of the age of consent. It’s that she didn’t give consent. She begged and begged, in fact, for him to stop, crying ‘please!’ as he raped her in the anus.
“Some states allowed a girl that age to get married.”
How many allow them to get raped?
“His victim has forgiven him.”
His victim has taken a wonderful sum of money and naturally gotten on with her life. He is a fugitive from justice and if that is in any way relevant, he can make it an argument in court. But now his issue is with the people of California that he has shown gross contempt for over the last decades.
I’ve seen more than a few good films in my life. None, however, have been worth the rape of a child.

How do you know for a fact that he raped her?
You claim, “she begged and begged, in fact, for him to stop, crying ‘please!’ as he raped her in the anus.”
How do you know this for a fact?
Care to explain why the medical examination showed no sign of penetration of the rectum?
Maybe because she lied?
Or maybe because he’s endowed like a toddler?
How do I know these to be facts?
Most of these issues weren’t disputed, except perhaps as a matter of degrees. It’ll be hard to claim he didn’t know her age, as independent witnesses have claimed he did. He can claim she really wanted it, and he can claim she wasn’t really under the influence, but he can’t do that after plea-bargaining and running. Sorry, he just can’t.
If you dispute these facts, let him come home, face the music and contest them.

I have also been a victim of abuse in the past, & have had to let it go, as one abuser is now dead & the other, a cousin, in ill health.
Doe the French and Swiss have this person listed as a Sexual Offender (predator)? Don’t they worry about their children?
I say all you need to read up on the stats for offenders and the proper name. Sex Offender does not mean predator. Men do not hide in the bushes or hide in parks to attack children.90% of offenders have not been caught yet. It is a family member or someone you know doing the wrong.The cases you hear about are so far in between the media hypes the story and makes it sound like this happens every 2 minutes. It does not! Sex Offender does not always mean there is a victim. Please educate yourself on the topic before you run your mouth..

Polanski’s civil rights were violated by his first judge and if the second judge would have sentenced him he would have been able to appeal and would not have went to jail anyway. They don’t tell you all that. Personally I think the judge did the right thing legally but morally I think Polanski should be shot and burn in hell
does everyone know there was evidence, he admitted to the crime. he drugged the girl the 13yr old victim? this guy is an animal who drugged raped and sodomized at 13yr, why on earth should he be let off? he should face his crimes.
