Musician Wyclef Jean’s Haiti-relief charity has hired new accountants after admitting earlier this week that financial “mistakes” had been made, the AP reports. The Yele Haiti Foundation came under scrutiny last week when it was accused of paying Jean for a benefit performance and buying advertising time from a TV station he co-owns. New accounting firm RSM McGladrey will oversee the funds from now on, with all donations going to earthquake relief, the foundation announced; funds to cover overhead expenses will be raised separately. Jean is one of the co-hosts of tonight’s Hope for Haiti Now telethon.

I took his side and gave him the benefit of the doubt but I’m disappointed that he didn’t keep better track of the disbursment of the funds. He is a good man and has a good heart, in the right place, but he clearly hasn’t kept careful track of the money we’ve donated and I hope it won’t affect people’s desire to give and help in the future. The people of Haiti need money and assistance now and for years to come in order to rebuild. I don’t want people using this as an excuse to keep their money in their wallet.
sigh.
That is exactly what I thought he needed to do when this whole thing came out. Get good accountants and defend yourself appropriately.
getting new accountant or not could not solved this problems unless the mam is honest,my quation here is that . was he aware of the allegations during that time,or he just kick his accountant just to cover him self up.hope haitians will one day come up from all ,
