It would’ve been nice to see Anna win, but Mo’Nique did a great job.
“I Will See You”???? EW, still the place for sharp facts-checking and accurate reporting…
Mo’Nique did a BRILLIANT job in Precious. She’s the only one who should have won. The other nominees were great, but Mo’nique’s performance was amazing.
I am SO HAPPY Mo’Nique won Best Supporting Actress!!!! She was AMAZING in Precious and her acceptance speech was BEAUTIFUL!! I’m SUPER HAPPY that Glee won Best Comedy Series…That show is AWESOME!!
Monique robbed the other better talented actresses. Her roll was basic, simple–meaningful, yes, but not wow, how did she manage that? It was a basic act. Hurt Locker was robbed(picture, directing), Streep robbed Sandra(The Proposal), Ice Age 3 SHOULD have been nominated and won: IT, was robbed. Avatar was very good, but Action/Fantasy movies should no be given “Drama” awards. The tinsel minds of Hollywood are easily blinded by delirium.
It’s clear, Ernie, that you cannot be taken seriously as you cannot spell “role,” and just name-checked Ice Age 3. Sheesh.
After seeing Mo’Nique on T.V.,and then watching her transform into a completely different character like Precious; I can only say that this was the BEST ACTING I have ever seen in years! I cried, I hated her,and she just brought that character to LIFE! You deserve the OSCAR! AND THEN SOME! Smile.
Who the **** is Toni Colette? The other nominated actresses got robbed
how do you not know who toni colette is? She’s an oscar nominated movie star who stars on a good show in the showtime network called The United States of Tara.
Toni Colette so deserved this award. If you see her show The United States of Tara you will understand. I am so happy to see her win, I didn’t think she would be she does deserve her win.
Agreed! I love Toni & USOFT!
She played Haley Joel Osmant’s mother in The Sixth Sense among other movies.
…should have won an oscar for the sixth sense.
Stop showing your ignorance in talking about something to which you quite clearly have nothing to contribute
Tony is amazing. You should check out United States of Tara before judging. It’s guaranteed to satisfy!
Seriously, you have no clue who Toni Collette is, LaTisha? You need to rent the following: MURIEL’S WEDDING, MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING, THE SIXTH SENSE, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, IN HER SHOES. Then you WILL know who she is.
Her best movie is Clockwatchers, by far. That recent stuff doesn’t compare people!
Toni Collette is NOT in My Best Friend’s Wedding.
Maybe you are thinking of Rachel Griffiths in My Best Friend’s Wedding?
It was a long time before I realized that the actresses who gave such great performances in Muriel’s Wedding, The Sixth Sense, 8 1/2 Women, About a Boy, and The Hours (among others) were actually just one terrifically talented woman named Toni Collette.
And About A Boy… one of Collette’s best performances.
I actually just watched the pilot for United States of Tara and her performance on that show is pretty amazing. She really captures those different personalities so well. It’s almost scary how good she is. She definitely deserved to win.
toni collette? really? love her as an actress, but find united states of tara to be awful…perhaps i just wanted courteney cox to win too much…
I was rooting for Edie Falco.
Me too. Edie Falco as Nurse Jackie is great.
“Women sacrifice!” Kudos to terrific Mo’Nique!!! Now head for SAG and OSCAR!!!
Mo’nique was amazing! Best speech of the night so far. Loved her!
I agree Mo’Nique is pretty awesome! The thing I love about her is her fantastic ability to be so normal and so amazing at the same time.
Horror: Jane Lynch has been robbed, shame on HFPA. That’s why People Choice Awards exist, critics and so called pros act like tools sometimes.
Jennifer Aniston, WTH was that vent, woman???
It’s a shame Brad Pitt wasn’t there to support his nominated movie, just because Ms Jolie didn’t want to go and didn’t want him to bound on Aniston’s vent. Btw, I hope while sitting at home, she’s trying to braid Zahara’s hair! The girl is AA, she can’t just fluff her hair when she gets out of bed like her sisters, her hair needs to be done, Angelina. Or you get a braided AA nanny or you buy some relaxer, but don’t let go out with a messy hair. I know it’s not the subject, but I needed to write this somewhere.
get a life
DON’T STOP BELIEVING! GLEE WINS BEST COMEDY SERIES, OMG!!!!!!!!
And The Hangover winning : CLASSIC!
OMG i know, soooo exciting!!! yay GLEE!!!
Ughh you know something that i wish they would change? Is the fact that they have best actor/actress for tv in all catagories (Drama, comedy and Mini-series) But when it comes to the supporting actor catagory they just have Best supporting actor in a series, mini-series or motion picture for tv. I think some of the great supporting actors would have a better chance at being recognized for their role if they would break up that catagory a bit, like Jane Lynch, so deserved it but when you put her against serious actors and it comes down to critics, whos going to win? No suprise
John Lithgow? Are you kidding me? His time passed some years ago. So much for these awards to be of any true value
Seriously?!?! They should have just handed that award to him on the day that nominations were announced. He was SPECTACULAR on Dexter. Well deserved!
john lithgow’s turn on dexter was freakin’ phenomenal. THAT’S an award totally deserved.
I agree with noam, there was no contest here Lithgow had that one totally nailed down. His turn on Dexter was freakin’ phenomenal as you stated!
Okay, you clearly do not watch Dexter…he was creepily AMAZING on Dexter this season and definitely deserved to win.
And naked…
Lithgow was totally mesmerizing along with the entire season of Dexter. I thought it was much better than Mad Men as well. Michael Hall and Lithgow had me wanting more after each episode.
RJ, you obviously have not see a single episode of Dexter.
Um. John Lithgow was brilliant on Dexter. He was the only winner!
That’s because he’s the only one who can act on that show. Seriously the worst actors ever.
yeah skip, the other actors are sooo bad. I guess that’s why michael c hall won best actor huh?
Best acted show on TV by a mile. Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow were a master class in acting, and the rest of the cast is also superb especially Jennifer Carpenter.
Skip, what the hell are you talking about? Every actor on Dexter is brilliant. When I heard they were going to kill a major character, there wasn’t one that I wanted to lose. They’re all amazing actors and bring their own unique talent to the show.
You obviously did not see DEXTER this season. John Lithgow did an awesome job! His award was well-deserved.
Okay. Don’t even talk until you’ve seen him on Dexter. Only someone who did NOT see him on that show can even THINK of writing the words you just wrote! That man was BRILLIANT!! John Lithgow had already won that award from the first episode of Season 4 of Dexter.
ARe you kidding me? Did you even watch the absolutely mind blowing season of Dexter this year??? Lithgow was phenomenal. There was no contest who should have won that award this year.
Totally called the Toni Collette win in Ken Tucker’s prediction gallery. I don’t know why people think she won’t win. Her role in United States of Tara has “award-winning” all over it. The voters love to award people who take on multiple-personality roles.
Plus, she freakin’ amazing as Tara! And Buck. And T. And Alice.
The Globes are hard to predict because you don’t know whether they will go for style or substance (RDJ for Sherlock Holmes over anyone else in the category?! He’s a great guy, but clearly won a popularity contest). As for Toni, turns out the GG went for substance.
He’s one of the most talented actors today, easily. Get your brain checked, he did a fabulous job in Sherlock Holmes. He WAS that movie, and he IS every movie he’s in…
He is… Robert Downey jr. in every movie he’s in. That’s the problem. If he actually tried… acting
Congrats to John Lithgow and Michael C. Hall!
SO SO SO HAPPY that Michael C. Hall finally won!!!
I totally agree, I didn’t think that he would even though I know that he should. So glad for him, he definitely deserves to be recognized he is phenomenal.
Yes!!! He such an amazing actor. I still can’t believe this was his first win.
He’s been overlooked for so long and it was about time he won. I was so happy.
Is this his first one? He definitely has deserved it for a long time. Even though I would’ve been happy if Jon Hamm won too because more time with that man on any screen makes the world a better place. He even makes beards sexy!!!
Finally. I loved Michael C. Hall since Six Feet Under. So glad he finally won.
agreed… he deserved a globe for david as well… it’s his time! he’s fantastic.
So so happy that Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges won!! Two of the nicest and most under-rated actors in Hollywood. I hope they win the Oscars. Hooray for AVATAR.
Agreed. Soooo happpy this brilliant and classy man was FINALLY recognized for his mesmerizing work. He is truly one of our finest actors. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery Michael
So glad Mo’Nique and Julianna won..great job ladies!
First off Dexter is an awesome show!!!! Michael C. Hall/John Lithgow deserved to win, they were both awesome this season. Toni Collette is good in United States of Tara…Courtney Cox, really?? That show sucks……I do wish Anna Pacquin would have won…Maybe next year!!
I am happy to see Michael Giacchino win. I love the work he does for Lost and Fringe too.
Me too! I love the soundtrack for Star Trek as well-well desearved win
Dexter for Best Drama Series as well, perfect season
Ditto
Nope, knew that Mad Men would win. They love that show. I have yet to see an episode..guess I will have to catch up with it. I would have loved to see a Dexter win as it was its best season yet and it was riveting! The season finale left me awestruck.
I love love love Mad Men but Dexter had a standout season
I guess I really will have to check Mad Men out. Seems everyone really loves that show.
It should have won. Who watches Mad Men? I tried to watch that show and found it boring. Plus it’s already won 3! They should’ve given it to Dexter.
Could you please tell me what shows you like? I’m trying hard not to be a bitch, but you’re the first person I’ve heard of who has tried to watch Mad Men and didn’t like it.
I do agree with you, Dexter should’ve won but I think we all knew that Mad Men would.
Um, there’s a lot of people out there who’ve tried to watch Mad Men and found it boring. For people who prefer plot-driven shows, it’s a total snooze-fest. NOTHING happens. I rented the 1st season DVD and couldn’t get through an episode without dozing off.
Celia and Cynthia-THANK YOU! My husband and I also tried to watch Mad Men and could not finish and episode without falling asleep. The glacial pacing of the episodes is just painful to watch, and we have several friends who had the same complaint. Dexter should have won best drama this year no contest. Runners up-True Blood and Breaking Bad which wasn’t even nominated.
@gen: I might give Mad Men another chance, but it was just boring to me. I love a lot of shows, obviously Dexter is one of them. I usually watch anything that’s interesting and can hold my attention.
Alec Baldwin for the win? Am I the only one who finds him not funny? oh well, congrats
Sweet for Mo’Nique, Meryl and Alec.
Bummed Inglorious didn’t win screenplay
Or director, or picture!!!!! I freakin loved that movie. It was better than Avatar in every way. The acting, the humor, the message, the drama. Avatar was a cheap piece of Hollywood popcorn. It did not deserve a single award (unless they have a CG award. I’ll give them that).
“Cheap piece of Hollywood popcorn.” I like that, think it describes Avatar perfectly.
I love Avatar! But yeah it would have been way cooler for Basterds to win.
