Former Nightline anchor Ted Koppel is in discussions with ABC about taking over Sunday morning show This Week, sources told The New York Times. Koppel is said to be talking to ABC News president David Westin about taking the chair vacated by Good Morning America-bound George Stephanopoulos.

It would be great if Koppel agrees to anchor the show! NBC should have done anything to get Koppel to take over “Meet the Press.” Koppel is one of the few interviewers who has the credibility to be in this type of anchor position. Since David Gregory started on “Meet the Press” the quality of the show has declined significantly. Having Ted Koppel anchor “This Week” will make it destination television on Sunday mornings.
