UPDATED: L.A. D.A. calls Jackson doc manslaughter indictment story 'bogus'; Murray rep responds to report

Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the L.A. district attorney’s office, called reports that Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s physician, will be indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter “bogus” when contacted by EW.com this afternoon. The Associated Press reported that a law enforcement source, speaking anonymously, said the case is edging near an indictment and that Murray would be “prosecuted on a theory of gross negligence alleging that his treatment of Jackson was an extreme departure from the standard of care normally followed by physicians.”

The L.A. D.A., Sandi Gibbons was quoted in the AP story as saying, “no final decision has been made.” When contaced by EW on Friday afternoon, Robison stood by that statement. “Nothing has changed,” the D.A. spokeswoman told EW.com. “It’s a bogus report. We don’t have the case.”

A spokeswoman for Dr. Murray sent EW.com the following statement: “We have refused to comment on stories involving unnamed sources and will continue to do so. However, we can confirm that we have not received notice of an impaneled grand jury and Dr. Murray has not been invited to testify. J. Michael Flanagan was added to Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense team this past week. His offices are in Glendale, California.” Flanagan is the attorney who represented Britney Spears in a hit-and-run case. He told the AP he once also successfully defended a nurse who was acquitted in an LA trial after being accused of administering propofol to a patient who died.

Murray has been under investigation for some time in connection with the death of Jackson, which has officially been ruled a homicide caused by acute propofol intoxication. According to previously released court documents, the Houston-based physician allegedly purchased the drug in Nevada and shipped it to California, where he allegedly administered it to the late pop singer on the afternoon of his death.

Why are u so sure that he’ll come back! I mean I do hope he does, but the more I believe that he’s alive the more I believe that he won’t come back! :’-(

tracy, lay off the drugs. How DARE you, as a so-called MJ fan, accuse MJ and his family, his friends putting on a BIG ACT for all of us. You’re insane. Seek help. MJ is in heaven now…let him rest.

    • Keep the Faith

I agree. A Dr Conrad Murray doesn’t even exist, this is a fake name.

I agree with you Tracy and with MJ, “comeback in your own time,” Michael, we love and miss you.

    • padussia

I totally agree with you. This Dr. did not commit a murder because MJ is indeed ALIVE! And people who are still thinking that he is dead is so blind.

Anaesthetic drugs are NOT meant for the treatment of insomnia, being under anaesthesia is being in an INDUCED COMA, it is not to be confused with sleeping. It has to be used only in hospitals or clinics equiped with LIFE SUPPORT MACHINES and MONITORS. Failure to do this is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE, because of the very high death risk. Jackson wanted to sleep, therefore to put his life at risk by anaesthetising him in a DOMESTIC environment, resulting in death, is clearly a homicide. Jackson cannot be blamed for this, only the doctor who made the decision and ADMINISTERED the drug out of financial gain is resposible.I hope he gets locked up for a very long time. A doctor should ALWAYS protect life, ALWAYS.

It seems everyone took advantage of Michael while he was alive. M.J. was a fabulous talent but his mental health was indicative of a celebrity who had become dangerous to himself as well as a danger to others(his kids). I wish I could have had one conversation with Michael that was real. I can say that I have never seen anyone dance as well as Michael Jackson. No one has and no one ever will dance like Mike.

  • Love Michael

I agree, the Dr. should not have given Michael propafol as a sleep aid, that’s criminal enough, then adding multiple drugs on top of that and leaving him alone to do whatever! Very irresponsible, If the man had cared more for a human life than his job, he would have stopped playing russian roulette with michael’s life and used his professional status as a doctor and gotten Michael the help that he desperatly needed!

  • knif@sbcglobal.net

At the VERY LEAST, Murray should be charged with negligent homicide. He freely admits he knew the drug is extremely dangerous and that he nevertheless not only administered it to Jackson but then left him unattended, with fatal results. Murray’s guilt is glaringly obvious.

Why then are the legal authorities that were so very quick to file & prosecute charges against Jackson based on flimsy, if not ridiculous evidence so reluctant to file & prosecute charges against the clearly guilty doctor who caused Jackson’s premature death?

    • Viola

Cosign on this. I pretty much agree with Heilioge B, Love Michael,Lancome and you.

  • MJalive999

        May Bamsday happen soon! :)

  • Izilda Aparecida de Araujo Pomelli

He is physician to administer anesthesia ok
But high doses mixed with other medications strong
injecting propofol in residence without equipment to measure pressure
    pressure and heartbeat,
not be monitoring the room and out to call,
not call 911 to have a safety call after Michael died,
not help the emergency team with information from medications administered,
disappear from the site without providing support to family
Why would a doctor if it was not deliberate?

  • sc341

Throwing Murray in jail won’t bring Michael back but it will stop the quack dr. from harming his other patients. Murray is negligent in MJ’s death, at the very least revoke his license to practice medicine.

  • sc341

Tracy, you are delusional. They would not issue a death certificate and release an autopsy report if MJ were alive. The authorities would never agree to perpetrate a hoax. The public would be totally outraged and the LAPD and the coroner would be charged with a crime if they perpetrated a hoax. They would never endanger their careers for MJ. Your assertions are ridiculous.

    • Tracy & MJ support

      Tracy is not delusional!

      Long May the king live!!!!

    • Keep the Faith

Fake autopsy report and fake death certificate. Don’t believe everything that is published.

  • Dave

There are seriously people out there who believe MJ is still alive??? WOW now I have heard of everything, get to a psychiatrist FAST!

  • Beth

Believers do not need a psychiatrist.

    Long Live the King!

  • WendyE

Michael is coming back soon hold on because it’s gonna blow your mind.

    • Keep the Faith
