Hot off her Golden Globe-nominated performance in Up In The Air, actress Anna Kendrick has joined the cast an untitled new comedy to be directed by Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) and starring Seth Rogen and James McAvoy. The untitled film, which has McAvoy playing a twentysomething man who learns he has cancer, is set to begin filming next month. Kendrick will play a psychologist who counsels McAvoy’s character. Director Levine replaces Nicole Holofcener (Friends with Money), who left the project last fall reportedly due to differences over where to shoot the movie.

Sweet….I adore James McAvoy.
siiiigh, who doesn’t??
He’s just so hot. I’ll watch him in anything.
love james mcavoy…he’s an amazing actor. i love every movie he is in. seriously.
umm you mean Seth ROGEN?
you spelled rogen wrong
I think I heard this movie was called ‘I’m With Cancer’
Kendrick seems wayyyy too young for that kind of part. She looks like she is in her early 20s. Isn’t the education for a psychologist position extensive?
It’s not necessarily too extensive. Let’s say you manage to finish your Bachelor’s degree in 3 years, and then immediately begin graduate school to receive your Master’s in Psychology. Different Master’s programs in Psych can range from 2 to 4 years. So technically, one could become a licensed psychologist by the age of 23 or 24.
It might just be a matter of semantics, because you can be a therapist at her age (24), but it is very unlikely that you would become a psychologist by your early 20′s because for that you would need to attend a PhD program, which takes another couple of years.
Oh you’re right Yesenia. I wasn’t thinking for a second. I should have been more clear in my first post. However, certain fields of psychology only require a Master’s degree, such as school psychology. But obviously the role in the movie is not a school psychologist.
or… the unrealistic circumstance could just be squeezed in just because it’s a movie…
24-year-old John Francis Daley plays a psychologist on Bones. Maybe her character will be a prodigy like the Bones character.
Interesting…I’m a huge fan of James McAvoy. I haven’t seen him in awhile. And Seth Rogen is always excellent.
um…seth rogen made this movie last summer, when it was called “funny people,” and it SUCKED
Exactly what I was going to say….
Ditto
True. But it wasn’t with James McAvoy. I would sit through Seth Rogen junk for him.
That was the first thing that came to my mind as well. Maybe the subtraction of Sandler and the addition of James McAvoy will make it better.
Sounds GREAT. I love all three of these actors, particularly McAvoy. Can’t wait.
And actually, on another note, I only thought The Wackness was okay, while I really enjoyed Friends With Money. It’s too bad about the director swap. Oh, well. No big deal. I have faith in the cast.
what were the conflicting locations?
let me guess..
1) Canadian city(locale)
vs.
2)US locale?
James McAvoy? So there.
Anna Kendrick? So there.
Seth Rogen? Eh. I’ll take it, I guess.
Extremely happy to see James McAvoy in anything and everything. Now if only “The Last Station” would make it to a theater near me!
I am SO in it for James, but for those who say they haven’t seen him in awhile, his next film opens next week. Not sure if it’s limited though (called the Last Station)
James Mcavoy is the best! He really has the acting chops. He is not only talented but not bad to look at either. He can not only act in any drama but has a cometic quality about him. He always does great interviews with a cometic charm.
Anything with James Mcavoy in it is bound to be great on some level – because he always does a great job. And he’s a pleasure to watch, no matter what he does. More Mcavoy!
