EW has confirmed that Kim Raver (24, Lipstick Jungle) has been promoted to series regular on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. (The Hollywood Reporter first reported the story.) The actress joined the cast of the medical drama last fall in a recurring role as cardio surgeon Teddy Altman. She will reportedly appear in all but one of the episodes for the rest of the season.

Any news on what they intend to do with Katherine Hiegl? I’d be a happy viewer if Kim replaced her since my love for Izzie has severely dissipated the last couple of seasons.
So much so that you can’t even spell her name correctly any more.
Heigl is not being replaced by Kim – she is on maternity leave and will return to the show.
Raver is a breath of fresh air. Since Izzy is wanting a movie career they should just let her go. So many other good actors that actually WANT to be there. She does nothing but complain about her long hours and ask for time off to shoot movies.

Great, but unsurprising news. In just a couple of episodes, Raver has already proven to be a great addition to the cast and has already blended right in. She’s the strongest female addition since Kate Walsh.
See, rather than ABC feeding us Raver, I’d rather they cancel Private Practice and just bring Kate Walsh back! Sigh. A girl can dream…

I like Private Practice, too. It’s not going to win any writing awards, but I enjoy the cast.
I agree, I miss Kate Walsh. I find Private Practice so boring though. (Not that Grey’s has been so great in recent years, I watch it more out of habit than anything.) Kim Raver, meh. I had almost forgotten about her. Though I guess she’s more interesting and likable than most of the merged doctors ended up being.
I also wish that Amber. I like Private Practice but Kate Walsh belongs on Grey’s. You can tell Addison is a much needed character on Grey’s for the simple fact they had to bring on a bunch of new people just to replace her and Burke. They left a huge void. Cristina has yet to mesh with anyone like she did Burke.It seems like Grey’s is trying to be the one show with the most cast members.

I think Kim Raver is a positive addition to the show. I have been a fan of hers since Third Watch and think she is very talented. I am glad the networks think so too

Gotta disagree. Owen and Cristina always struck me as a ridiculous dead end, though I like them individually. Would love to see C. with someone like Burke who seems professionally and physically compatible with her. And Kim Raver’s character already has way more in common w/ Owen than Cristina ever will.

Part of what Kim Raver so good is her great storyline. The scene where Owen tells her he loves Cristina (into Kim’s mouth, no less) was amazing. I felt so badly for her, but so happy for Cristina.
Ugh. Do NOT like Kim Raver in anything ever since she turned Jack Bauer into a simpering idiot. Like the storyline though – just so long as she stops shy of breaking up Owen/Christina.
I just hope it won’t take even more of Meredith & Derek’s screen time (since we only see them 2 minutes per epi now..).
Kim is a great addition to the cast. Enough of the Mer/Der story line. It has ran it’s course the past 4 seasons! Christina and Owen all the way! Now, if they bring back Burke – it would create an interesting storyline for the couple. Also, please bring back Kate Walsh!

Only if they keep her far, far away from Ownen. The Cristina/Owen/Kim Raver triangle is almost as bad as the Dead Denny sex one.
Dead Denny sex storyline was Horrible! I would normally vote for any reason to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan on screen, but that was just too much.
Dude, nothing EVER on the show (or TV for that matter) will be as bad as ghost sex.
