      I concur.

      • Beiber

He was the best he should hasve one.

    • Telly B

      “American Idol Star”?? Really?

I don’t even know who the guy is, and I watch AI…

      • Musica1

You can’t have watched 2008 season and not know who Jason Castro is. That’s just an impossible statement. He had a huge fanbase who called themselves the dreadheads. He would have won if his fans hadn’t thought he mouthed “Don’t vote” during top 4 week. He said he was actually saying, “Vote vote” but it looked liked “don’t vote” to many people so they didn’t vote for him that week.

      • info

I agree with Musica1…he was pretty noticeable during his season and I will never forget him! You couldn’t have watched the entire season and state you don’t even know who he is!

      • Dave

TellyB, you’re obviously lying. There’s no way someone would have watched his season of AI and not remembered him.

      • Telly B

Oh, he was the dude with the braids?
Sure…I remember him *sarcasm* If he is so famous and memorable, and so popular, why does he not have a career?

Can’t believe EW is wasting bandwith on some hasbeen…or should I say, on some neverwas…

      • Suzanne

        He’s signed by Atlantic Records.

      • %

And of course we all know that means instant success.

      • jennifer

no… how do you not know who he is???? you fail. just sayin.

  • Jonny Nguyen

yes, I agree with you, I am working on it.

  • hatedon

“….begins touring on Jan. 20…..” ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

    • ruched dress

      ……at a dinner theater near you…..

      • SO2009

LOL…….I don’t think his “career” will even go that far!

    • Cody Serpa

Just like that illiterate TRASH Fartasia Burito (uh… Fantasia Barrino?), she has to sing for her supper.

Probably has to do the dishes afterward to get that paycheque.

  • ericalina

i’d say “star” is overstating things a bit wouldn’t you?

    • Telly B

Exactly, ericalina. Maybe EW should’ve simply said “the guy with the blue hair” or “the girl with the crazy eyes” or something. How are we supposed to know who they talk about, when most of those kids go back to obscuriy once the show is over?

Heck, even some of the winners are forgotten a year after they win…(The spaztic guy with the white hair, the fat black dude, the short haired black girl, etc)

      • amj

I am more likely to remember Jason Castro since he was an original than others who even won. Castro was cool, unique and had a great style. But his performances were unpredictable so good and bad. I have heard his new stuff and it is pretty great.

  • YOY

    JASON WHO ????

  • darclyte

Replace the word “star” with “alum” and it’d be more accurate. His single “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” is pretty good and the video for it is cute. Congrats to them!

  • whatevs

He was the guy with the dreadlocks, people…

    • spicy

      So?

    • marley

      So?????

    • NIMNUL

We know dude…..we just don’t care.

      • whatevs

I was commenting for those who don’t remember; it’s really not necessary to be rude about it. Although, it’s pretty dumb of you to make the point that you don’t care but still read this article and comment on it. Good going.

      • NIMNUL

        Now who’s being rude NITWIT???

      • A

Once again, why do people assume the comment section is for only happy, positive comments. People can let EW know they don’t care for this type of article or reporting. It’s called feedback.

      • whatevs

Yes, I’m being rude because I didn’t care for your direct attack at me, which is clearly the only way you know how to respond to someone.

I don’t think EW is just for happy comments either. However, a negative comment made toward me instead of the subject matter is what irritates me.

        Get a life

      • PJ

Wahhhhh wahhhhhh ,ummm actually crybaby whatevs it looks like you cast the first stone when you called the poster dumb. Grow up and stop being so silly, its really NOT that deep!

  • annie

Congratulations Jason and Mandy! He actually is one I do remember from the show.He was a cool kid.Loved his version of Hallelujah and Somewhere over the Rainbow.Didn’t like what I saw from this past season at all! yuk! puke!

  • Peggy

Congratulations Jason and Mandy. And to you folks who say you don’t know who Jason Castro is, you didn’t watch Season 7 (I think that’s right one).

  • Musica1

It’s nice to see good things happening to good people. Can’t wait to see him on tour.

  • Ambient Lite

In lieu of wedding cake, “magic” brownies and spray cheese were served. Duuuude.

    • supadupamodel

      LOL!

  • wysiwyg

    Slow entertainment news day.

  • Suzi

Anyone that says they are an Idol fan and says the things some of you are saying about past contestants are not fans you maybe are a sometime watcher.
I have seen Jason Castro on television
many times since Idol. Of course, anyone that describes people as the fat black guy and the white haired guy is NO idol fan!!! In fact, none of these performers would want you as their fan.

  • Katie

I just can’t believe how some of you can be so hateful. Are you jealous or have no self worth? Anyone that made it to the last 12,or so, are making a living with their music. For instance, the gray haired guy, Taylor Hicks and “the fat black guy” Rueben Studdard were both millionaires the night they won idol. My guess is, you aren’t a millionaire with the words and writing and brashness you presented. I can understand, somewhat, if you are 14, if so you will learn as you grow up,

  • Butters

Does EW think this is newsworthy? Oh well, looks at Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment sale… after much hyped (by EW) is still disappointing am I right or am I right?
