Singer Chris Cornell, former frontman of the ’90s Seattle grunge band Soundgarden, confirmed via Twitter that the band is getting back together. “The 12 year break is over & school is back in session,” Cornell tweeted. “Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!” Cornell provided a link to a new web site, Soundgarden World, which enables fans to sign up for further updates on the band’s reunion. Soundgarden split up in 1997 and Cornell went on to release three solo albums, but in recent years he and other former band mates had hinted at the possibility of an eventual reunion.

I used to like that song until I sang it on Rock Band. It’s sooooo repetitive! I don’t really enjoy even listening to it anymore.

Cornell’s ego must have gotten a little softer in his old age. Hopefully this lasts long enough to get some good music. Still though, great to hear. I’ll give big props to Brent Smith from Shinedown, but Cornell is still probably the best voice in rock today.
Very excited. 80% of music nowadays is awful and I also think Chris Cornell still has the best voice in rock. “Black Hole Sun” isn’t even one of their ten best songs by the way.

I liked Soundgarden ever since hearing Black Hole Son on Beavis and Butthead, no matter what the reasons I’m glad they’re getting back together, always glad to hear more new music.

Badmotorfinger is the shiznite! I must have listened to that cassette (yes I had it on cassette) in it’s entirety 2-3 times a day as senior in high school. Superunknown and the Black Hole Sun era is ok. Down on the Upside was manure.
I was afraid this would happen some day. I love Soundgarden. Superunknown is one my my favorite albums (though “Black Hole Sun” is my least favorite song on it. Yes, I even like “Half” better), and Badmotorfinger is up there as well. They went out on a high note (not their highest, though); they should leave it at that.

It’s about time! Cornell is great- and I give him credit for “experimentation” (his latest work w/Timbaland was not great)but back to his rock/grunge roots is where it’s at.I’ll be eagerly awiting….

if any of you people know anything about Cornell, which you obviously don’t, you know this is not about money at all. He’s doing this because you begged him for 12 years for it. I think he sees now as a good time, not too long after the break up and not too late… meaning nobody’s too old yet to do some more Soundgarden. Cornell and the guys just wanted to take Soundgarden back out for a ride. Have fun with it like they will!
