Joel Tenenbaum, a graduate student at Boston University who must pay four record labels $675,000 in damages for downloading 30 songs online, has been ordered by a U.S. District Court judge to destroy his illegal music files, according to the Associated Press. In July, a federal jury in Boston ordered Tenenbaum to pay damages to the record companies for copyright violation. In addition to destroying his music files, Tenenbaum was ordered to refrain from any further illegal downloading.

VH1 orders new reality series 'Basketball Wives'
VH1 has announced plans for a new reality series about the wives and girlfriends of several major basketball stars, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Basketball Wives will focus on the unique challenges that go along with being married to an NBA star, spotlighting the spouses of Shaquille O’Neal, Eric Williams, Antoine Walker, Jermaine O’Neal, and Udonis Haslem. The eight-episode, half-hour series will premiere March 15, 2010.
Anthony Michael Hall lands guest spot on 'CSI: Miami'
Anthony Michael Hall will guest star as a convicted killer on an upcoming episode of CSI: Miami, according to People.com. Hall, who last starred in the USA Network series The Dead Zone, will play an emergency room doctor who has been convicted of murder. The episode, taping this week, will air next year.
Al Pacino to play Shylock in Shakespeare In The Park
Al Pacino has been cast to play Shylock in summer 2010′s Shakespeare in the Park staging of The Merchant of Venice, Variety is reporting. Pacino is among a pool of actors that will appear in not just Merchant, but also The Winter’s Tale, forming a twin bill for the storied New York theater series. Joining Pacino: Jesse Martin (Law & Order) and Ruben Santiago-Hudson (ABC’s Castle; American Gangster). Pacino — who has previously played Shylock on the New York stage — is no stranger to Shakespeare: in 1988, he starred in Shakespeare in the Park’s Julius Caesar, and in 1996 he directed and starred in the acclaimed documentary film Looking For Richard, an in-depth examination of Richard III.
Alexa Ray Joel 'feeling much better' at home
Two days after entering a hospital in New York City, Alexa Ray Joel is at home and, “feeling much better,” says her rep Claire Mercuri. According to the spokesperson, “She is with her family and looking forward to getting back on track.” Joel, who took too many homeopathic pills Friday night and called 911 after becoming concerned with her shortness of breath, also released a statement: “I want to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support.”
Jerry O'Connell replaces 'Heroes' star in NBC pilot
Jerry O’Connell has replaced Heroes’ Sendhil Ramamurthy as co-star of NBC pilot Rex is Not Your Lawyer, acccording to The Hollywood Reporter. Ramamurthy reportedly withdrew from the role due to scheduling issues. David Tennant will star as panic-attack-suffering attorney Rex Alexander.
Pitt, Summit plan 'Dracula' remake
Summit has picked up actor Charlie Hunnam’s script for Vlad, an action-packed story of Dracula as a young aristocrat, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner are producing through their Plan B Entertainment. Music video director Anthony Mandler is in talks to direct.
'Cane' creator to write TNT's 'Dallas' remake
Cynthia Cidre has been hired to write TNT’s new Dallas series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cidre previously created and executive produced CBS’ 2007 series Cane. There has been no official confirmation of whether original Dallas stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy, and Linda Gray will reprise their roles.
Apple buys Lala.com
Apple has purchased online music service Lala.com, Reuters reports. Lala, whose users can stream most songs once each for free and then must pay to continue streaming them, recently partnered with Google to integrate music into web searches.
