Golden Globes: Here are the nominations!

The 2010 Golden Globes nominations are here, and EW has it all covered. See the TV nominees list below; click over for reaction from Michael Ausiello and Ken Tucker on the TV selections, and from Dave Karger on  the movie contenders; and visit PopWatch for your opportunity to cheer faves and vent about snubs. The awards will be handed out on Jan. 17, 2010, in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Fox’s new series Glee led all TV contenders with four nods, including best comedy/musical series and acting honors for Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, and Jane Lynch. The Jason Reitman-directed movie Up In the Air led movie contenders with six nominations, including acting nods for George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, and Anna Kendrick. The musical Nine landed five nominations, and James Cameron’s Avatar and Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds each received four.

Mel Gibson's next project to be 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation'

Before directing a Viking movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio that was announced yesterday, Mel Gibson will star in his own action drama script, How I Spent My Summer Vacation, according to EmpireOnline. The movie tells the story of a career criminal who, while imprisoned in a Mexican jail, finds redemption in a friendship with a 9-year-old boy. Adrian Grunberg, Gibson’s first assistant director on Apocalypto, will direct.

Al Pacino, Barry Levinson, and Buck Henry bringing latest Philip Roth book to big screen

Al Pacino has optioned his first book in which he’ll play the lead in the film adaptation — award-winning author Philip Roth’s The Humbling, about an aging stage actor who finds renewal through a younger woman. The New York Times also reports that Oscar winner Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Bugsy) will direct. And 79-year-old screenwriter Buck Henry (The Graduate, To Die For) will pen the script.

Showtime plans project about Vanderbilts

Showtime is plotting a new project called The Vanderbilts, according to Variety. Oscar winner Julian Fellowes will write the script, about the family’s railroad and shipping dynasty, starting with Cornelius Vanderbilt.

'Dexter' gets new showrunner

With Dexter‘s season finale behind him, the show’s executive producer/showrunner Clyde Phillips is leaving the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Chip Johannessen, 24‘s co-executive producer, will now take the helm at Dexter.

'Thor' writers come on board for Paramount's futuristic vampire film

Thor writers Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz have been tapped to write Damn Nation, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Paramount’s comic book adaptation is a futuristic vampire story.

Nick Cannon to get morning radio show in New York

Nick Cannon will get a daily morning drive radio show on WXRK-FM New York (92.3 Now) starting Jan. 19, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cannon’s NCredible Entertainment is also working on TV projects including a Josie and the Pussycats show at TeenNick, an MTV special and a puppet show for Adult Swim. NCredible is also moving into publishing with a deal for a multimedia book series with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing Division. He will continue to host NBC’s America’s Got Talent in 2010.

VH1's 'Tough Love' gets 'Couples' spinoff

VH1′s boot camp show Tough Love is getting a spinoff, Tough Love: Couples. According to The Hollywood Reporter, professional matchmaker Steve Ward and his mother JoAnn will work with five couples on the verge of engagement and put their relationships to the test. The show will premiere in the second quarter of 2010.

'Lord of the Rings' coming to Blu-ray

The Lord of the Rings trilogy will come to Blu-ray on April 6, 2010. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Home Video will release a Blu-ray box set of the trilogy in a nine-disc set priced at $99.98.

'True Blood': Alfre Woodard set to play Lafayette's mom

Emmy-winning actress Alfre Woodard has signed on to play the mother of Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) as a guest star on HBO’s True Blood, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Woodard also recently joined the cast of the TNT pilot Delta Blues.
