'Lend Me a Tenor' returns to Broadway in 2010, Stanley Tucci directing

Lend Me a Tenor will return to Broadway in April 2010, with previews beginning in March at the Music Box Theatre. The revival of Ken Ludwig’s comedy, originally staged on the Great White Way in 1989, will be directed by Stanley Tucci, who is making his Broadway directorial debut. The cast includes Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace) and Tony Shalhoub (Monk).

Amanda Seyfried to leave 'Big Love' at the end of the season

Big Love doesn’t premiere til Jan. 10 and we already know who’s not coming back next year: Amanda Seyfried. As first reported on TVGuide.com, Seyfried will leave the show at the end of this season to pursue her film career full time. Best known for her role in last year’s blockbuster Mamma Mia!, Seyfried will give up her sixth-month commitment to the award-winning HBO show after her character, Bill Paxton’s eldest daughter Sarah, gets married this year. Seyfried, who appeared in Diablo Cody’s Jennifer’s Body this year, can next be seen in the Liam Neeson/Julianne Moore drama Chloe, Lasse Hallstrom’s Dear John, and Letters to Juliet with Gael Garcia Bernal.

Actress Leelee Sobieski welcomes a baby girl

Leelee Sobieski, who received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Joan of Arc back in 1999, delivered a baby girl late Wednesday night in New York City. Her reps have not yet confirmed any other details of Sobieski and her fashion designer fiance’ Adam Kimmel’s latest addition. Sobieski, most recently, co-starred in this summer’s Public Enemies opposite Johnny Depp.

Pennsylvania man charged with stalking Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Los Angeles prosecutors arrested Pennsylvania man Steven Burky Thursday for stalking actors Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. According to Reuters, the police said he showed up at their daughter’s school despite a court “stay-away” order. In November 2008, Garner obtained a restraining order against Burky, after telling a judge that she feared for the life of herself and her family. The man continued to stalk Garner until his arrest Monday at the nursery school attended by the couple’s daughter Violet. Burky is currently jailed on $150,000 bail. He faces up to four years in prison, if convicted.

Nancy O'Dell to leave 'Access Hollywood'

Nancy O’Dell, original member of the Access Hollywood entertainment news show, has decided to leave the program after 13 years. According to O’Dell’s rep, the decision is based solely on O’Dell’s desire to “take her career to the next level.” They insure that the split is completely amicable. She is leaving two years before her contract is up. Her last show will be this week.

Kid Cudi is leaving Lady Gaga tour

Kid Cudi is leaving Lady Gaga’s tour, according to Billboard. On Wednesday, Cudi’s representatives issued a statement saying the artist has decided to take an “early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments.” Cudi’s departure comes in the wake of an incident that occurred on the tour’s stop in Vancouver on December 12, when he allegedly attacked a fan.

Emmy Rossum, Allison Janney set for 'Shameless' on Showtime

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera), Allison Janney (The West Wing), and Justin Chatwin (Dragonball Evolution) have been added to the cast of Showtime’s upcoming show Shameless. Based on the hit British series from writer Paul Abbott (State of Play), the show will center on a working-class family that includes an alcoholic father (William H. Macy) and his savvy daughter (Rossum). Janney and Chatwin will play love interests for Macy and Rossum, respectively.

USA to create series based on 'The Freshman'

According to The Hollywood Reporter, USA is set to adapt the 1990 film The Freshman as a primetime series. In the original movie, a film student (Matthew Broderick) becomes entangled in the world of organized crime after befriending a mafia don (Marlon Brando). Andrew Bregman, who wrote and directed the movie, has been tapped to script the series.

Rene Russo to play Thor's mother

Hot mama! Rene Russo has joined the cast of Thor, playing Thor’s mother Frigga, Variety reports. Kenneth Branagh is directing the film, which stars Chris Hemsworth as the Norse warrior. Anthony Hopkins plays Frigga’s husband Odin.
