While appearing on Good Morning America on Dec. 30 to promote New Years Rockin’ Eve, Ryan Seacrest was asked by a reporter about the rumors that judge Simon Cowell will leave American Idol after this season. ”As far as I know, those are just rumors,” Seacreast answered. “He has not told me anything about leaving the show.” The Idol host did acknowledge Cowell hopes to bring his successful Idol-like U.K. series The X Factor to the U.S., but then he went on to plug the upcoming Idol season premiere on Jan. 12 with Cowell and new judge Ellen DeGeneres. “As of right now,” Seacrest concluded, “[Simon] is on American Idol.”

Ryan said that we’d see all four judges back this January right after Paula’s publicist said she wouldn’t likely come back, then Paula confirmed she was leaving. I hope he’s right about this one though.
I watched the first British season, and I must say that X-Factor is a terrible show. They expand all the reality show aspects, including caricature like mentor roles for the judges, and reduce the music stuff to a footnote. I hope it fails horribly.

Oh my gosh…what happend to the Adam-Centric AI home page only 3 or 4 solo Adam picd instead of of 7 or 8..Less would be even better…Guess what EW he didn’t win and its nice to see pics of others. I’d take about a dozen more of the easy on the eyes Kris or Danny than another freaky glammed out pic of Adam.

Simom makes that show. The whole world tunes in every week to hear what he has to say. and come on people most of the time he is right on. You go Simon, I think you are awesome.
AI will be on the air for at least 5 more years, with or without Simon. By that time, ratings would have dropped significantly but is stiil profitable enough for 19E and Fox to hold on to. Paula left AI because she has a deal with Simon to be an X-Factor mentor. It will look awful and gave her bad press if Paula will leave AI after this season to work on X-Factor. We must know now how Cowell’s mind works. He has foresight. He will jump ship and move on to his own show while AI is still not sinking. These next 2 years will be very interesting. And Ellen will not bomb as AI judge. She will get good script and will take it from there.
