Charles Barkley and Sigourney Weaver will host the first two new episodes of Saturday Night Live in 2010. The basketball legend, who previously hosted the show back in 1993, will guest on the Jan. 9 show, with Alicia Keys providing the music. On Jan. 16, Weaver, currently appearing in Avatar, will host along with The Ting Tings.

I hope there’s another skit of Charles Barkley & Barney playing 1 on 1. Even more hilarious, Barney beats Charles in the game as Charles is 50+ lbs heavier this time.
I was just thinking the same thing! That’s the only skit I remember from the first time he hosted.
Finally, they are starting to book good guests. Now they should try to get Bryan Cranston who is giving the performance of a lifetime on one of the best shows on tv – Breaking Bad
That is my all-time favorite SNL skit!
Heh – I said the same thing to my husband right before I read the comments. That was classic!
One of my favorite skits, but also good was donkey basketball because the real donkeys would not hold still the entire skit.
Can’t wait to see Sigourney. She’s an underrated comedic talent; Galaxy Quest anyone? And she looks like a hoot in Crazy on the Outside. Love me some Sigourney.
Agree!
And glad to see none of those talentless teen twits like Taylor Lautner or whatever hosting
(at least not yet…)
um, taylor lautner already hosted a few weeks backs and was TERRIBLE
She was also hilarious in “Heartbreakers”.
Totally agree Kalie!
I loved that movie. She’s awesome. I can’t wait to see her on SNL.
yes, Heartbreakers is totally underrated! Even Jennifer Love Hewitt was good in it! They really need to give Sigourney more comedic roles. I’m so there for her SNL gig! Hopefully the writers will rise to the occasion and not stick her with toilet humour.
I’m not sure that anyone remembers the movie, but she was hilarious in “Working Girl”. The scene where she is lying in the hospital bed, talking on the phone and slaps the nurse’s hand as he straightens her gown – a quick scene, but a funny one! It’s RARE that SNL would get an actress older than 50 to even appear on the show… I can’t remember the last one.
can’t wait for Sigourney! And the Ting Tings too! This better be a great show! So much great talent!
ahhhh…. SW … a breath of fresh , classy comedy, methinks + hopes…
Thrilled about Sigourney Weaver, but… Still no Jane Lynch?
my guess is maybe she’s busy with her day job? i always thought snl required the host to be there a week and that might be impossible for her at the moment. fingers crossed for when theyre done shooting glee though!
If Jane Lynch hosts (which I really hope she does!), it’ll probably be in April to coincide with the Spring premiere of Glee.
They will not hire Jane Lynch to host, just so she can promote “Glee,” which is on a rival network. Girl, bye.
Hugh Laurie has hosted twice and both times he promoted House, which is on the same network as Glee.
Please have Jane Lynch with musical guest Matt and Kim… thanks
you really think NBC reads comments here?
How do you know they don’t, know-it-all?
I don’t care who the host is, but if they could have Matt and Kim on, i’d probably sh!t a brick. HUGE FAN!
I am thrilled to hear Sigourney Weaver is hosting and even thinking Charles Barkley will be fun…love me some Space Jam.
Should be fun as long as they don’t do “What up with that” either week. If they play that again, I will go berserk (except for Jason Sudekis dancing in the background, but that’s the only part of that horrendous skit I can bring myself to laugh at).
I completely agree. Why do they torture us with that awful skit? It is the SAME EVERY TIME. And it is NEVER funny.
I have to tell you – I kinda like the “what’s up with that ” skits – and also the digital shorts, too. The skit I just do notlike is..GILLY.
I think it is really stupid and not funny at all.
I am glad to see SNL choosing some hosts that are over 40 years old , by the way – it’s about time – not all the fans of the show are tweens .
SIG!
zzzzzzzzzzzz SNL needs better hosts.
They need better WRITERS!! Bring the FUNNY!!
Finally a female over 40!
I remember Sigourney Weaver’s funny ALIENS (“ALIENSES”) parody on SNL back in 1986. The Colonial Marines end up accidentally wasting E.T.
That was a great show. She was also in the “Chopping Broccoli” sketch
LOVE that skit! Sigourney rules…
That WAS a great show! It was around the time I first started watching, and it was the first show with Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Jan Hooks, etc. Wish it was still that good!
Adults!
Is it inevitable that we will get the Charles-Barkley-calling-Tiger-on-the-phone sketch with Kenan?
OK, pretty psyched about Sigourney – she rocks!
Interesting choices.
Fingers crossed for Michael Emerson at the end of January! It’d be the perfect way to promote Season 6 of LOST, don’t you think?
LMAO. You really think NBC would tap him to host just so he could promote another network’s highly rated show? … You are the epitome of why 2012 is the end of the world.
Brad, you’re an idiot. I don’t understand why people make comments like this. Do you honestly think that only stars from NBC shows have ever hosted SNL? Neil Patrick Harris hosted last season, as did Hugh Laurie, and they’re both stars of shows on rival networks. Julia Louis-Dreyfus hosted a couple years ago, and I remember during her monologue, she heavily promoted her CBS show, The New Adventures of Old Christine. And these aren’t the only examples. There are a lot more.
thank-you Dave. it’s not that hard to figure out.
Matthew Fox has already hosted, so why can’t Michael Emerson?
He’d be good. He seems like a funny guy in interviews.
Zach Levi should host Jan. 9
That would be awesome, he’s great. I can’t wait for Chuck. And Sigourney will be awesome on SNL.
