'Jeff Dunham Show' won't see second season on Comedy Central

Tags:

Despite scoring the most-watched series premiere for Comedy Central, The Jeff Dunham Show won’t be coming back for a second season. His series debuted in October with 5.3 million viewers, dropping to as low as 1.3 million in December. A Comedy Central spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter: “We have no plans to renew the series at this time.” Still, the ventriloquist will be back on the network with another special in fall 2010.

  • git ‘er dunn

Jeff Dunham just might be the funniest person ever born in this country. Ever.

    • riprap

No offense, but you really haven’t seen much of this country then, have you?

I won’t believe he was born here unless you can produce a birth certificate.

this is one guy whose popularity i really, REALLY don’t get. my folks even love him and I’ve tried to have them explain some tiny clue to his appeal but nothing. they’ll be sad to hear this news

  • Lynn

He can be sometimes funny….in short burst. Not for a whole ‘nother season’s worth though.

My kids and I like his specials, but the show was terrible. We watched the first two and gave up.

    • Rachael

Us too.. We tried we LOVE Jeff and think he is funny to the point I cry or snort but this show other then the Twlight stink was not funny

^ This. My husband and I think he’s great. In specials. I really wanted to like the half hour show, honest. No offense to Brooke Hogan, but, Peanut, you can do better. You should have, else your show wouldn’t have sucked.

Huge Jeff Dunham fan but the show was not funny, he needs to stick to stand-up specials. His stand-up specials are hilarious, just needs to stay away from skit comedy.

    • Caroline

      Agreed! I Love his specials.

  • Gina

He’s funny on his specials but the show wasn’t all that great.

  • ibivi

His characters are okay in a performance context but expanded to skits they were awful. They crude, rude and ignorant. Stick to what works Jeff.

  • Matt

His stuff isn’t painful to watch, but rarely do I bust out laughing. He’s a talented ventriloquist for sure, but I generally find his humor ho-hum.

  • Scott

I’m sorry but whoever greenlit that show should be shot (figuratively of course). Once and for all, stand up comedy is an art form in and of itself. Those that do it rarely translate into skit or situation comedy. Jeff Dunham is great at stand up and he should stay there.

  • Buffy Freak

He’s the Dane Cook of ventriloquists.

  • amye

I think it’s just too much. Having the characters come out in bits & pieces (LOVE Ahkmed), is great. Too much Peanut is manic and confusing and crazy – not funny.

All I want to know is “Important things” renewed. Demetri is freakin histerical and brainy at the same time!
