Tyler Perry announced on his website that he will take his new play Madea’s Big Happy Family on the road starting Jan. 4. Perry noted that he hasn’t toured with his plays in the past five years.
“This is truly my BIGGEST and BEST PLAY EVER!,” Perry wrote. “I’ve done some things in this show that have never been seen in a play before. The show is hilarious! I mean, it’s so funny that we can’t get through rehearsals. We’re trying to get it all out now. And the music! The music is off the chain. So come on out, I’d love to see you there. It’s bigger and better than anything I’ve ever done. I’m excited about it, I really am.”
The first leg of the tour hits El Paso, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, and Portland. The full list of tour dates is available here.

Oh no Tyler. Try something different, like producing a play by a new black playwriter. This is like going to the well until the well is dry. Nothing new.
Critics beware–you will not be allowed admittance when the play comes into your town–keep out!
I think i will pass on this. I’m a fan of the movies but not the stage plays. If you want to see great black theater check out the works of the late August Wilson.
Funny how there are always negative press regarding Tyler Perry, but he has proven time and time again how much money he makes for himself and others. Oh and by the way without the plays no one would have known who Tyler Perry was.
