French rock star Johnny Hallyday has been released from a Los Angeles hospital after back surgery earlier this month, Reuters reports. His reps said in a statement: “The doctors judged that Johnny Hallyday’s current state of health has improved and justifies a return home to his family while he continues to receive the medical treatment he needs.” Hallyday will spend the holidays at his home in Los Angeles with his family. He had previously cancelled tour dates in January, while recuperating from complications from his original operation in Paris.

This seems to be big news on Yahoo! and everywhere, but I have never heard of this man. Why is this such huge news?
That’s because they guy has more than 50 years of carreer behind him and always has been a huge success in France
He was awesome in ‘Crime Spree’ (a brilliantly funny film) and ‘The Man on the Train’; wasn’t aware that he was uncredited in the original ‘diabolique’
I’m french and I confirme : Halliday is a big star in France, very famous. But actually, he is a big star just in France, may be Belgium and Canada, but that’s all, unlikely Charles Aznavour for example.
