MTV is facing more complaints about its reality show Jersey Shore, the AP reports. On Wednesday, the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus sent a letter to MTV’s parent company Viacom calling the show “wildly offensive” and asking for its cancellation. An MTV spokesperson wasn’t immediately available for comment about the letter. This builds on earlier complaints from Italian American group UNICO National.

i guess it sucks when people in this country act like themselves.
Please MTV is not about to cancel anything. This show’s ratings are through the roof(by MTV standards) and thus no matter how many complaints they get its not gonna get cancelled.
serrriously. give it up. people don’t think all italians are like that. to be honest, when i think of olive garden when i hear the word italian.
and now i’m really hungry.
What are they supposed to do? Act like those twerps parents and make them behave with some sense?
It isnt offensive when that is how they are, every day of the week, every week of the year.
No one’s to blame for EYEtalians being shown that way, but the EYEtalians who are doing it.
When will people realize that ANY publicity, especially ‘bad’ publicity, is not only helpful to shows like Jersey Shore, but it is the reason they are on the air in the first place! If no one commented about the show, THAT would be a reason for MTV to cancel it.
They’re just giving this waste of space more publicity. STOP talking about it, and MAYBE it’ll go away.
What bothers me is that the show is called “Jersey Shore” but it is not representative of the Jersey Shore in its entirety.
I find it amusing that year in and year out Italian Americans are portrayed on tv as mobsters, and yet this is the show that gets complained about. These kids are dumb, but essentially harmless and not really any dumber than random young people you will find anywhere in the world.
To all the people who got offended by MTV portrayal of their race/ethnicity in the show Jersey Shore – WELCOME TO THE CLUB – different groups have been for years subjected to “broad” interpretations of who they are – the enforcing of sterotypes and bad even demeaning behaviors – yet no one group has complained as loudly as the Italian Americans – what’s the matter – now that you are the target – it hurts – what about all the other before you – those who were told that “it’s just tv” – I say to you – TOO BAD – enjoy the series – I love it – yes I know it’s “DRAMA” – it’s fun and HEY MTV – DO NOT CANCEL – WAITNIG FOR MORE EPISODES AS I WRITE
