The Hollywood Reporter’s Roger Friedman reports that Ivan Reitman hsa confirmed that a script is in the works for Ghostbusters 3. Sigourney Weaver had recently alluded the the project in interviews for Avatar. Reitman said that the film could move forward in 2010.

The script is going to have to be exceptional for this to work, with or without Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, or Ernie Hudson. Even Indiana Jones 4 had Spielberg and Harrison Ford on board, and look how that turned out. So I hope they get the script right before going ahead with this, because otherwise, it doesn’t matter who’s directing or starring–if it sucks, it sucks.
They need to get JJ Abrams on Board!!! He’ll know what to do!!!
I hope they stick with the idea of the “next gen” of Ghostbusters using some of the funny people of today with the older stars as supporting actors. But, seeing the old guard running around in those suits would be a laugh.
This is old news… Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis have been public about this since this summer (or before) – ALL of the original actors are on board EXCEPT Weaver. The script is being written by the guys who work on the The Office…
