Big Love doesn’t premiere til Jan. 10 and we already know who’s not coming back next year: Amanda Seyfried. As first reported on TVGuide.com, Seyfried will leave the show at the end of this season to pursue her film career full time. Best known for her role in last year’s blockbuster Mamma Mia!, Seyfried will give up her sixth-month commitment to the award-winning HBO show after her character, Bill Paxton’s eldest daughter Sarah, gets married this year. Seyfried, who appeared in Diablo Cody’s Jennifer’s Body this year, can next be seen in the Liam Neeson/Julianne Moore drama Chloe, Lasse Hallstrom’s Dear John, and Letters to Juliet with Gael Garcia Bernal.

She’s wonderful on that show and I enjoy her as an actress. She brings a real vulnerability to her characters that I think audiences identify with. Good for her.
As long as I get to keep seeing her around!
I love her character on the show so I’ll be sad not to see her after the next season.
im glad she is getting a film career but im going to miss sarah!!
I was wondering why she wasn’t doing more movies. I totally forgot she was even in Big Love. It’s going to be a loss for fans of that show, though. Can’t wait to she what she does next.
I agree, I love sarah but thats good that shes getting a film career, love Amanda!
I’m surprised she’s been around as long as she has. I’ll miss Sarah though…
Happy for Amanda! But I will miss Sarah
I know why she’s leaving — ’cause she was up for Zack Snyder’s WATCHMEN follow-up, SUCKER PUNCH, but BIG LOVE exec-producers wouldn’t let her out of the show to do the movie. So as much as I love BIG LOVE, she deserves to leave them high and dry.
The real kicker to that is she’s been filming Letters to Juliet all fall, and in fact is doing shoots for it in NY right now. Hence HBO didn’t want to her to lose her good girl image and wouldn’t let her do SUCKER PUNCH. I’m glad she’s leaving she can do better.
If she is looking to be a big star, then film is the way to go. But there is more quality stuff on TV then in movies. For example, Big Love. Big Love has deeper stories, better characters and better actors then any block-buster summer picture.
