Alec Baldwin donates $1 million to alma mater Tisch

Categories: Uncategorized

Alec Baldwin has donated $1 million to his alma mater, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, to establish the Alec Baldwin Drama Scholarship Fund, which will start in 2010. The scholarship will provide tuition assistance to students who exhibit “work ethic, development of leadership skills, willingness to collaborate, the ability to tolerate risk, and the capacity to work with constructive criticism,” according to a Tisch press release. In addition, recipients must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need. The release also states that special consideration will be given to students from economically disadvantaged families or who are the first in their families to attend a college or university.

“The support I got from Tisch made it possible for me to become an actor and to have a career in this business,” Baldwin said in the release. “It’s important to give back to those institutions that give us such opportunities, and I encourage anyone to look into supporting their alma mater.”

The 30 Rock star graduated from Tisch in 1994.

Alec seemed like a good guy when he was at Ruben Dorm at NYU in ‘79-’80…Seemed more mature than most like he already knew exactly what he wanted to do.
