Disney has optioned young-adult novel Fallen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Laura Kate’s novel, published this week by Delacorte, is part of a four-book series all included in the deal. The contemporary story is about a girl who is torn between two fallen angels.

Why is the worst of YA always what is optioned for films? Uglies, A Great and Terrible Beauty, Graceling, Wake, Gone, Night World… just throwin’ out ideas people!
Your a retard. Half the books your listed there are great. You have no taste.
Errr I think that was her point ‘Princess’. That those books are great but they aren’t being made into movies, whereas every trashy YA series gets optioned for a film faster than you can say ‘angel’.
The author is Lauren Kate not Laura Kate…
Uglies was optioned for film a few years back but nothing has happened since. and so has ‘wake’ but unfortunatley Miley Cyrus is starring!
I like Fallen though, and disney will make it worse.
It sounds good, but not with Disney. They should stick with their goody-two-shoe movies. Just saying.
IKR! Disney would not have been my choice, they should have gone with Summit or Paramount Pictures. Disney is just really goody-goody-two shoes.
I’m not so sure that Fallen is movie-worthy. It was an ok read, but it had too many similarities with Twilight, and I think that it will not only an uproar from Twihard (haha tryhard) fans, but also it will just go down the drain with a bad rep just like Twilight. I don’t know, just saying.
yea i get what your saying but twilight was more predictable
yeah maybe but twilight had a bad director in the first film and also they had robert pattinson as a main charactor who cant act i think the fallen books would make a great film as the books were brilliant and personal i didnt find similarities betweem them….just my oppinion
Are you kidding? Fallen is definitely movie-worthy, but not with Disney. If they do, then it’s just going to ruin the novels for all Fallen fans. I know people will compare this to Twilight, but for those people, Twilight wasn’t the first and will not be the last love/fantasy film out there. 100% agreeing with Mishelle Tee!
i do not think disney should make this movie because if youve really read thbook its not for disney and if they do it would be great if they stay true to the author and keep it the way it is and not do a harry potter and change it hard long or not dont care keep it true to the book if there was no books there would be no great movies i would seriously get upset if it was changed and made into a PG movie.
p.s stay true to the book!!!
or it will not be as great as it could be.
So true alanieta, btw, nice name. Disneys to PG for this, if they dont want it to be compared to the twi-hard movies they gota give it to a director thats gona take a more raw approach to it, not the cookie cutter crap that disney usually dishes. Not that theres anything wrong with that, I love disney, just not for the fallen novels. If your going to do it, make sure to do it right, not just for the sake of making a movie!
exactly make the movie like the book making you want more then there is make it so that it is that good that you want to watch it over and over again cause thats the way i feel aboiut the book
It’s LAUREN KATE, not Laura Kate. I don’t mind Disney getting the rights, as long as they stick to great actors and the addicting storyline. Something like Harry Potter, Disney stuck with the storyline. Not like Percy Jackson, they seriously took everything out of the book and destroyed it! But the 17-year old thing I don’t mind. Logan Lerman is good enough for Percy but Annabeth was a total mess…
But I think Lionsgate, Paramount Pictures etc… would be better. Disney is just too ‘disney’ I guess. I’ll be fine if the movie is as EPIC as the book!
I like Disney, and I like the book Fallen (which is by LAUREN Kate, not Laura), but I don’t think that these two would be the best for each other. Disney is more about family movies, and as much as I love Fallen, it doesn’t strike me as a family movie if it does get made into a movie. The book strikes me more as a teenage fantasy romance story, not something Disney could do well (in my opinion). Maybe Summit Pictures (the people who did Twilight) would be good, but that’s just and idea. =)
I cant believe they just spelled the name wrong. And its absolutely true that disney cant pull of this type of book. Their style is waaay different.
Summit entertainment would definatley be a better choice
y disney y?
I love fallen but disney is going to mess it up. they are only going to make it a PG family movie all lovely and girly and fairy like. they need to keep it intense and keep all the tiny little details!!
i love fallen but not with disney i think disney will make the book more for little kids its needs all that action in it i think disney might take all that out and make the movie stink though i would like to see the movie if they are gonna make one which i hope BUT NOT WITH DISNEY someone else might be nice
I agree with most of the comments, Disney is not right for the Fallen series, it should be done with Summit or Paramount as someone mentioned above. Also I do think these books have some similarities with the Twilight Saga, which actually isn’t a problem for me as I love the Twilight books. These books are in the ‘Dark Romance’ genre and Disney (I don’t think) will be capable enough to project what everyone sees in their mind when reading the books onto screens. I just hope they don’t utterly destroy Fallen, as I totally LOVE it!
