Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of musician Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley, was hospitalized Saturday in New York City. A law enforcement official tells the Associated Press that the 23-year-old ingested eight pills. It wasn’t clear, according to the source, whether she had accidentally overdosed or had attempted suicide. She is hospitalized in stable condition and receiving treatment, Joel’s publicist Claire Mercuri told the AP Saturday.

I think the best thing to happen with someone who attempts suicide is to broadcast this information to the entire country.
I’m still trying to figure out how you “accidentally” overdose when you purposely take eight pills. Hope the kid is ok.
She could have mixed different pills taken for different reasons and not known that she shouldn’t have. She could have forgotten that she already had taken something and dosed herself more than once.
I hope she and her family are okay. We all want the best in this situation.
Maybe now her parents will stop being so damn selfish.
My heart goes out to the entire family. I hope she gets the help she needs.
Why is a “law enforcement official” telling the press about a patient’s condition? Whatever happened to a patient’s private, medical confidentiality. Eight pills – sounds to me like someone might have taken a dose & then forgotten & taken another. Just a theory. If someone wants out, they are gonna take 30 or 40 pills, not 8. Sure hope she’s OK. My kid is the same age & I’m glad she doesn’t have to see her mistakes splashed all over the papers.
This is not surprising at all – her parents are vile.

First of all Love Yourself, You are beautiful inside and out:) Loved by so many of us: You are not Invisible, we see you and love all that you do, such talent, Please take care of yourself and know that their is a reason for your life, you are blessed, when you feel down and have thoughts of being so alone, know that you have to look forward to being what ever you wish to be, maybe a wife and a mother, then a grandmother and grow old with the ones you LOVE! There is one more comment I would like to make and that is, if you are not a parent or someone that can understand the stresses of life that our children may go through, keep your comments to yourself, she is a young woman with her own battles to fight and work out. Your negative, thoughtless opinions should not be posted! Pray for your own blessings you may need in your life:
