Source: George Stephanopoulos considering 'Good Morning America' job

An insider has confirmed to EW.com that the Washington Post’s story suggesting that George Stephanopoulos has been offered the job of co-hosting Good Morning America is mostly accurate. While the source wouldn’t delve into details about what isn’t correct, it’s safe to say the network’s chief Washington correspondent is considering the high-profile post. An ABC spokesperson told the newspaper that finding a replacement for Diane Sawyer will require four months and they are still in the middle of the process. The Post is reporting that Stephanopoulos, a onetime Clinton White House aide, also wants to keep his current job as the host of the Washington-based This Week for as long as possible.

I like George and think he’s perfect for the first half hour of GMA. I just don’t think he can relax enough to have “fun” with the rest of the show. Maybe they could hire him for the first half hour and use Chris for the rest.

Agreed. George takes the “real news” portion of GMA to a higher level, but I’d worry about how he’d perform in the segments that air after 8am. He might surprise us though, I do really enjoy her appearances on the show.

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Mr. Stephanopoulos when he visited Kansas University this past Spring. During a town-hall type of meeting, he was warm, personable, and surprisingly witty. When chatting during a private reception before the town hall meeting, he was even more personable and engaging. Then again, he is married to the very funny Alexandra Wentworth (who’s frequently on Oprah Fridays). I can totally see him relaxing enough to have fun with just about anything that’s thrown at him.

No no no not George….he’s just toooo serious….yes for the analitical news great…but not for the GMA team… Chris Cumo is the guy he isn’t as stiff as George :( :(:( George can’t handle two jobs and be good at both….to much competition and it will be to hard to keep the high ratings that the GMA team has achieved. This will be a challenge in itself….
    RECONSIDER!!!!

I am so going to miss Diane Sawyer. She and Robin Roberts were so awesome as a team. George is OK, but I’d go with the guy they use as a sub, what’s his name? I’m embarrassed to say I can’t think of it. Is it Bill Weir? He’s got a lot more charisma and spontineity to him.

They should give it to Chris Cuomo. He’s already there, and he has good chemistry with Robin. I don’t see George in apron doing cooking segments, or interviewing the latest participant in a celebrity scandal.

Chris is an overgrown frat boy.

They tested George out a few weeks ago; I felt no chemistry between him and Robin…i don’t know what ABC is thinking. THe team makes up the whole. Everyone in the team had that same charisma…George is too serious for GMA. I would prefer a female and continue the two female combo. Why not hire Erica Hill who works with ANderson Cooper – she needs more of the spotlight – she’s got spunk and warmth – perfect combo for the GMA show.
