A Variety report claims that Johnny Depp is in advanced negotiations to star in Emir Kusturica’s upcoming Spanish-language biopic of the Mexican bandit and revolutionary hero Pancho Villa, entitled Seven Friends of Pancho Villa and the Woman With Six Fingers. Salma Hayek is also in advanced talks to co-star.
Depp and Kusturica collaborated previously worked together on 1993′s Arizona Dream.

How is this any different than non-American actors playing Americans: Javier Bardem, Jude Law, Christian Bale, Orlando Bloom……
That’s great I think that he’s going to be do a amazing job. He’s one of the best actors and Salma Hayek is the perfect actress to be in the film. Not only she’s a great actress but she’s hot and they both are great together.
Johnny and Salma worked together on Once Upon a Time in Mexico, so I’m very excited to see them work together again!

This is an Emir Kusturica film and he is NOT Hollywood!!! Please don’t insult him by saying that. He thinks Depp is a great actor who has the ability to portray this role in all honesty. I agree with him. This is not going to be a big Hollywood production but an indie film. This will be a real challenge for Depp and I can’t wait to see it!
Didn’t Antonio Banderas already play Pancho Villa, in “And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself?” Why couldn’t they just have him repeat the role here?
