Sons of Anarchy has been picked up for a third season by FX, reports Variety. The show’s season finale Tuesday night earned 4.3 million viewers, the biker drama’s highest audience ever. The 13-episode new season is due to launch in September, with all series regulars returning.

this was a no brainer..
from what i’ve read, the season 2 finale was a bit divisive, but you can count me firmly in the camp that was blown away.
SPOILER ALERT – Charlie Hunnam’s Jax in the final scene on the docks, watching the IRA boat off with his son, and his helpless, anguished line delivery.. ridiculously powerful.
Between that, and Katey Segal’s Gemma’s finally opening up back in episode 10, and i’d say both actors have their emmy reel sewn up.

Me too!! I am totally addicted to this show, I have seriously watched the finale like 3 times so far, and each time I watch it, I’m like, Damn!! This is such a great series, kudos!!
This is the best show on TV. Great writing, great acting, great everything. I can’t wait for season 3. SAMCRO rocks!

I will definitely be back for season 3, but you can count me among those who were disappointed.
Spoiler alert: An angry, bitter, grieving Irishman runs away with Jax’s baby b/c Stahl killed his son and framed a now on-the-lam Gemma for it? Really? Meanwhile, Clay and the others have Zobelle cornered and they just let him go, and they all get to the docks just in time to watch the Irishman flee ON A MOTORBOAT? Yikes! What contrived, overly plotted nonsense in my book.
Those who liked it, fine. It wasn’t my cup of tea. SONS is better than this, and I hope they rebound next season. Last night kind of tainted what had been an excellent season for me.
Wicked true to form that when a club member utters those words… everything else is dropped. Family first… at all costs. It is a hive mentality not individualistic even though it appears that way to an outsider. Stronger family bond than blood. Totally in agreement on the motorboat though. Someone would have been hot-wiring one in marina. Like everything else though, it is amped up and glamorized/exaggerated for television. It’s like Dynasty for bikers.
WOW!! Thats all I can say this is a true must of a show cant wait till next season and the movie..I want to be in it!!!

Was there ever a doubt that this show wouldn’t get picked up? The show, and Katey Segal in particular, deserve an Emmy. As much as I’m aching for new episodes I’d much rather wait a year and have 13 episodes of awesomeness than have it come back in a few months and lose its magic.
AMAZING! I swear i think i held my breath for the majority of that finale. Hands down the best show on television right now and I agree with everyone who mentioned Katey deserves an Emmy for her amazing performance this year. I don’t think I can wait 9 months! But I trust that Kurt Sutter and the cast will make the wait well worth it…
I love this show, I haven’t been this into a tv show since I was a kid — love the whole cast and have a huge crush on Jax. September is a long way away but i agree with the comments I read about waiting and getting a good show.
My heart was pounding not since the shield have i been on the edge of my seat this show will have a tough time going up next to Mad Men for the emmy.

It was posted in another article that he wanted out of his contract and he and Mr. Sutter gave him a honorable out…so in short He’s out..kinda sick because how u feel about 1/2 is how I feel about tara and jax…Its the reason I watch the show dynamic is great!!!
Half sack is dead, kurt sutter reported it in an interview with tv guide. the actor wanted to move on.

I am THRILLED they picked up this show again. It is the highlight of the FX schedule. I am SERIOUSLY concerned about the decision to cast Alan Thicke as John Teller, though . . . if he can pull it off and if they only do flashbacks, fine — but if they are really doing a “I never died, I was just hiding out” storyline (which is the rumor) then it’s going to be whack.
Alan Thicke? The GROWING PAINS dad? That can’t be right. PLEASE TELL ME THAT’S NOT RIGHT!
Finally!!! Thank you FX and thank you Mr. Sutter for a phenomenal show. It’s gonna be a long year….
