Film director Roman Polanski, who was arrested in September this year for a 1978 statutory rape incident, will be moved on Friday afternoon from his Swiss jail to his chalet in Gstaad, a village in southwestern Switzerland, reports the BBC. The Chinatown director, who collected the $4.5 million bail the Swiss government ordered for his release from jail, will be transferred on Friday and monitored thereafter using an electronic bracelet. Meanwhile, Polanski’s completed film The Ghost is still on track to appear at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It wasn’t just “statutory rape” (although that’s horrible enough). It was FORCIBLE rape. It’s INCREDIBLY offensive that you didn’t use the proper wording in the article.
agree with susan, he got a minor DRUNK (if not drugged), so it cannot be just statutory rape
Polanski drugged and raped a child. She said “no” and asked to go home, repeatedly. The DA agreed to drop the more serious charges after sentencing, if Polanski would plead guilty to the statutory rape. Polanski pleaded guilty to the lesser charge, but skipped out before sentencing. So, he still has the more serious charges pending against him. He’s gotten away with his crime for too many years, and should not be allowed to go home. He’s a flight risk, even if he has an ankle monitor.
